Do users really read emails?

From my little experience, it feels like users don't really read their emails.

    I think there is truth in that, but as always it will depend on the context and importance of the email.

    For Open Startup List emails are just a way for let the subscribers know that a new interview is published. Haven't sent any yet, but I have hundreds of subscribers from the first days of launch and I think they are eager for these insights. so I'm pretty sure they will read the emails.

    Some do and some don't. Majority of people don't read your emails, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't send emails at all.

    Currently running an email marketing tool, and I can see that people are still reading their emails.

    I look forward to emails from certain people (Brennan Dunn, John Somnez). It depends on how relevant and high quality it is.

    A good designed and useful email is worth pure gold. I agree that most newsletters or update emails probably go straight to trash, but something that is useful to your users (in my case new mentors on the platform) can give you the biggest traffic boost out of all sources.

    Yes, but it depends on the email! We send lots from Indie Hackers, some of which have dramatically higher click rates and lower unsubscribe rates than others.

    I personally subscribe to numerous publications that I read regularly in my inbox. I subscribe to even more that I don't read, however, because they aren't interesting and are usually a bit more "selfish" — a person or company trying to push their message on me rather than trying to give me what I naturally want.

    Why say so? Are you trying to build a product that heavily relying on emails?

    I've subscribed over 40 newsletters and I read them almost everyday. I think it's really depending on their quality. @daajust
