Do you find CTO discussions to be deep enough? so many questions In my technical groups are quite specific questions almost like stack overflow material. I find conversations where there is a more abstract dialogue much less frequent.
Yeah, absolutely. At least with one CTO friend we have hours and hours of philosophical conversation about the nature of work, motivation, psychology of developers, CEOs, investors, what works, what doesn't, why, whether the industry is moving in the right direction or not, how to increase efficiency, efficacy, run budgets, etc.
When I discuss things with a wider community it gets a bit shallower of course. One thing that I notice is that sometimes you ask a question and when it's a hard question people answer a related but easier question and the conversation derails from the original intent. Heck, I'm sure I've done that a few times... although I try not to.
not really! it's hard to hang out with ppl nowadays (I'm in SF, still no meetups or anything). most ppl I know here are in the tech biz but not CTO roles.
I wasn't asking specifically about Covid-times, but yeah, right now all of this is harder. Although I personally found that as a lot of people moved to online socializing, finding people online to socialize, network, etc is now easier and in the past few months I'm meeting more like-minded people than before.
are you in some other communities where people are hanging out? something I've taken to recently is online escape room games, which are usually zoom based. they also attract a pretty geeky crowd of code breakers, but not really CTO types!
I'm in a few Slack communities, CTO Craft being the most relevant for this conversation, but also Microconf Connect, This Week in Startups, Rands Leadership and a few others.
I'm looking for a CTO for a marketplace. Laravel or magento or others are fine. However we don't pay cash or help you in financing it. It's your work vs shares. If you are interested just drop a message here

I’m not part of any communities. But this is something I’m very interested in. I’m currently a CTO and it’s extremely challenging!
That gives me an idea to start a post about the challenges of CTOing.
No, no and nowhere. But I would not mind finding a good online community of CTO's discussing such challenges.
I have a couple of friends in the same role. Let's be in touch!
I'm CTO of a dating app.
