Do you need to be active on twitter for newsletter community?

Hi there,

I started a newsletter on Substack with anonymous interviews from "normal people". It is not to grow hugely, but aiming to create a community to exhange thoughts.

Being on Indiehackers I thought I could meet likeminded people (and have met some great ones so far) but am a bit worried about the fact that I am not so active on Twitter.

Any other newsletter writers, not active on Twitter and any advise if I should be?

    I don't get it 🤔

    I think it would make more sense to think about WHY one might benefit from being on Twitter in the first place. I think most people talk about audience building. You can of course build an audience else-where but have you thought about what you are replacing it with?

      Thanks for your reply 😊

      It is an interview (in conversational style) with people from all walks of life, without knowing who they are. It's meant to be a fun read. It is interesting to peek into the thoughts of "someone else" (and the idea this could be anyone you meet on the street) and see how they view the world. Especially as it is anonymous it is possible to go a level deeper.

      {Don't hold back your thoughts on it 🙏🏼}

      I started the newsletter initially out of a place of finding it sheer "fun to do ". However, I notice that the interviewees are engaged and more people like the read. I would like to find the larger audience that is also interested in this.

      What I notice is that there is quite an active "newsletter community" on Twitter. As I have literrally 0 presence there I am worried not to find the people that are also interested in what I am doing..

        I think this is a cool idea in terms of meeting people.

        I think this sounds like this could be the newsletter form of Humans of New York.

        I'm not sure if you are looking to make money off of it? For that, I'd guess you'd need a lot of subscribers before that would be possible since it's a newsletter targeting a very wide/unfocused audience.

          Thanks!! And the example of Humans of New York was exactly my thought too (or PostSecret). Cool that you think the same way.

          In first instance, making money is not my first goal. Rather I would like to create a community and get more people / anonymous conversations to get the same "Humans of New York / PostSecret" community.

          ( 😊if interested, you can find it here: normalvoices.substack.com --> it comes out every Thursday and the latest one has just flown into the web universe. If you feel compelled: feel free to give me any feedback on it!!)

    I write an investing newsletter and I am very active on Twitter. I would say about 90% of my subscribers have come from twitter. Would certainly recommend it for building your audience
