I am trying to get a better understanding of my user's problems, as part of it I offered 45 minutes of a free consultation with me to talk about data issues in the company, culture and how can you improve the usage of data across the organization. However I am not sure how to approach the mapping part, should I have a second person on the call to write notes? Should I even offer free consultation did any of you tried something like that in the past and can share some feedback and learnings

Funny - but I feel like if you ask them for their time so you can understand challenges and build a better solution, you'll actually get a higher rate of response than if you offer 'consulting'. People want to help more than they want to be sold : )
