Easy Is Hard

Day 64 of 365 of my Daily Blogging challenge, first published on my blog

There are 3 levels of mastery of anything.

First, you know nothing, and explaining the topic is only done in simple terms, shallowly, thus you get a simplistic explanation out.

Then, at the intermediate level, you understand the topic better, but you can only explain it in complicated terms, in a long form way.

Last, you get to a deep understanding of the topic. You understand the complicated parts, but are able to explain them in simple terms, and make most people understand it.

You have to go through the first two steps to get to the last.

So if you feel what you’re getting out is not good enough, keep at it, keep learning, keep refining.

I haven't heard about this challenge before, this is interesting!, how do you find inspiration or the topic of the day?

    1. 1

I usually go with what comes to mind, which is why it probably gets quite bad most days.

I also have a list of topics that I fill out when I get an idea I want to write about, then I pick into those when I have absolutely no idea for the next post

This is a pretty cool challenge. Looking forward to see more of it! Godspeed 😁🔥

Thanks for the nice word !

If you have any feedback at any point, please send it my way, I'm always willing to improve

Easy is hard in another, important sense. Making a new product - a real innovation - that's easy for the customer to use. That's really, really hard.

At the time it launched, #Slack was a whole new concept in communications. There was nothing like it. It took a HUGE amount of effort to make it easy.

You have to literally watch people trying to use your product, see what they try to do, see what confuses them, and ruthlessly take out the friction and confusion until suddenly, it's easy. It just works.

We're in that process with ContactLink, and it's really important... but harder than it looks!

I did not follow the story of Slack, but that's really interesting to see it this way !

I would even go to say that if you take a product that already exists and make it easier to use, it will be quite good.

I wish you the best in making ContactLink as easy as possible !

  4. 2

I always feel like the more you know the more you know that you know nothing haha.

    1. 1

      That's really true !

That's also how you see new paths to keep moving forward since you now see what was hidden before.

  5. 2

That's great! I try to stay accountable on my writing.

Perhaps I should join the challenge.
