Email services like Mailchimp that charge by emails volume?

Hi,

I manage a newsletter of 3000+ subscribers and bills from Mailchimp start to pile up. The thing is that I send a newsletter update every 2-3 months to my subscribers so paying by each month just to "hold" this list of contacts is a bit overkill for what I really need.

Do you know of any other email service like Mailchimp but cheaper or alternatively charges by volume (pay for each email sent) and not by monthly subscription?

Thanks!

I also run a newsletter and I use Mailjet, I really like their email builder and they have a simple subscription widget to put on my site

Woah... they give unlimited contacts in their free plan.
I've been looking for such a service in a while.
      Thanks for the info.

I've done a lot of email marketing & newsletter work over the years (CampaignMonitor, mailchimp, mautic, sendy, Zoho, etc). The market is full of good solutions, and finding the right fit depends on your send frequency, your geek level your list size, etc.

Assuming you're not looking to spend a couple of days setting it up (e.g. Mautic), I find Sendinblue provides good value and low friction and I have moved a number of clients to it in the last year or two. You can buy 5 or 10k email credits (sends) on a pay-as-you-go basis if monthly doesn't make sense for your model.

One kinda cool alternative (monthly but not too expensive) is revue.co which specializes in newsletters-from-blog-posts, so check out if that fits as well.

Hi everyone, I’ve launched https://mateai.io and I’d like to give you FREE access as a Beta-Tester for 7 days, after that it will cost 19$.

You can do two things with MateAI:

    1. Write email campaigns 10X faster thanks to AI.
    2. Find inspiration for your email template and with one click you can import the template you love on your ESP (ex. Mailchimp etc).

I am very curious about your feedback and hope you will find the tool useful!

Try eSputnik. This ESP provides a lot of nice similar features like MailChimp and the price will depend on your contact list: https://esputnik.com/en

A really nice email provider for ecommerce and for building automated worflows and scenarios with triggered messages, cusomer's behaviour tracking etc.

I find Mailgun great. 30,000 emails a month for free, really solid service. https://mailgun.com

I use ActiveCampaign. Absolutely love it.

Indeed, paying for idle subscriptions is a total pain!

Have you considered any self-hosted options?

    Like https://sendy.co/

    Or open source, like mailtrain:

You just got me thinking - I’ve just launched an email service (https://maildown.dev) and am in the process of tinkering with pricing. I may add a block of emails as a pricing option

Got your email, I replied but it failed to send.

Your message wasn't delivered to [email protected] because the domain maildown.app couldn't be found. Check for typos or unnecessary spaces and try again.

DNS Error: 17091602 DNS type 'mx' lookup of maildown.app responded with code NXDOMAIN Domain name not found: maildown.app

      1. 1

Hi, sorry about that - the right email address is actually [email protected]. Maildown.app was an old domain i had, which has now expired

Your pricing is lucrative Chris. At Spike.sh, we are currently using SendGrid but would like to try other options for transactional emails.. which are mostly alerts and one welcome email per signup.

I don't see a chat on your website so can you reach out to me? [email protected]

For drip campaigns and newsletters, we use other tools.

      1. 1

Have you tried Kingmailer.co for transactional emails?

      2. 1

How do you feel about SendGrid? I'm trying to add the CNAMEs (these: https://imgur.com/fHZ2jGS) to my Google Domains (here: https://imgur.com/uWIxF3g) but I can't really figure out how.

Mailchip gives the best service in email marketing or sending bulk mail to our target audience. Aweber is a alternative of Mailchip . So You can also use for email sending task and other mailing work.

Use Mautic (open source) + Amazon SES (SMTP). It’ll cost you $10/100,000 emails and no cost to ‘hold’ a list. Go to YouTube/ Google for tutorials on this. Enjoy!

thanks for the suggestion... waiting for some AWS credits and then I'll give it a try

  11. 1

SendinBlue does, and Zoho Campaigns lets you pick between paying per email or by subscriber count.

Muxemail https://muxemail.com/ Free for 25,000 subscribers.

Just released? Hasn't this been around for a while - googling suggests that's the case? But then again it's a beta... I'm confused. Also, I see no indication that this is an Amazon product - it just uses Amazon SES.

      Please clarify.

Edited for clarity. You're correct - it is not an Amazon product; got it confused with something else.
