ETHOnline Hackathon (Day 176)

ETHOnline Hackathon is back! There are tons of great tutorials from different sponsor projects, and they are available on YouTube even if you can't attend in real-time. This is a great learning opportunity. Check it out here:

If you are wondering what some of the people in DeFi wants to build, here's the Notion doc on "Buterin Level Ideas for ETHOnline". Some of the "wishlist" items are really inspiring!
https://www.notion.so/Buterin-Level-Ideas-for-ETHOnline-86aa6b5f60274243a1034e45ad0ae9fd

Here're some of my favorite ideas:

  • Membership based Uniswap Pools
  • Interest bearing E-sports
  • ERC + DEX -- a token standard with DEX functionality built-in, so that there is no DEX
  • BTC Perps -- on-chain Bitmex for BTC perpetual futures, with some synthetic behind them
  • Interest Rate Swaps
  • GSN as a service

What should I build?

  • I am thinking of building a simplified "whitelist" based on ERC721 tokens as an extension to ERC20. E.g. the most common use case can be owning a ERC721 representing KYC, before the ERC20 token can be transferred. To allow KYC to KYC transfer, we can verify the recipient owns a ERC721 KYC token. The utility can be generalized to allow more specific restrictions / rules applied on ERC20 ownership, and these rules can be "composable".
