Feedback on email to old customers

Hey everyone, this email has a 50% open rate (pretty high I think) but only a 2% response rate. I am using Steli Efti's 123 Method. I'm not sure but I feel like it's not working that well for me. I emailed about 40 old customers so far, with the results above, I want to to tweak it before I send it to more customers.

Subject Line: {{contact.first_name}}, are you hiring for {{lead.name}}? functionaljobs.com relaunch with offer

Hi {{contact.first_name}},

Thanks for previously using Functional Jobs to post jobs!

I'm re-launching the site with a brand new design, and I'd like to offer you a discount off listings if you have any open roles right now.

However, I have a new idea that will really help you get committed and engaged engineering talent who understand your company's mission and working culture before they even apply, so that they will work better with your existing staff and stay on longer.

If you'd like to find out more, here's a preview of the re-designed site, with a description of the new offer: https://jobboard-cf798d.webflow.io/feature-company

Let me know if you:

  1. Want to list open job(s) right now on functionaljobs.com
  2. Are interested in this new offer.
  3. Are not currently interested in either of the above.

Just type in the number of the option you'd prefer, and any further information that you think would help!

Thanks!

If they are an old customer they should know your business. So rather than saying "are you hiring for ..." you could try leading with the offer first and include the amount eg: "{{contact.first_name}}, here's a $20 off your next role advertisement"

hey @luminosity1337 here's my take on your email, I know the people over at close.com, so quality content, and some to avoid at all cost because they weren't written by subject matter experts.

The 123 structure has been so overused that people tend to disconnect their brain rapidly when reading it

Here's a suggestion to increase your reply rate

I'd trim the subject line to just "Subject Line: {{contact.first_name}}, are you hiring for {{lead.name}}?"

Hi {{contact.first_name}} - you used Functional Jobs to post jobs in the past, are you still trying to hire a {{Job Title}}?

Are you against showcasing your offer within a community of 7500 programmers?

This typically helps you increase your chances of hiring committed Engineers who are here for the long run.

    What do you think?
