Feeling down or burned out?

I went through my own burn out a few years back, it took me a while to claw my way back and to even recognise it for what it was.

Here's a handy little tool I stumbled upon to help you think about where you are right now.

Maybe it will help someone here. ❤️

Given there is a fuzzy line in between depression and burnout, you might as well do a quick check to see how you're doing when it comes down to depression. See https://www.mdcalc.com/phq-9-patient-health-questionnaire-9

If you happen to score pretty high on the PHQ-9, you might think it'll blow over. Let me spoil it for you; it does not. Get help while you're still able to do so. If you do not have the emotional capacity to figure out where to start, reach out to someone who might want to help you. Feel free to reach out to me and I'd be happy to help you figure out where to start patching things up.

@rosiesherry - Interesting, I'm classed as mid risk but I completed the questions based on my "day job". I think if I was answering from a IH perspective I would be ok.

Just need to make the IH activity work for me now!

I'm currently working on my ebay Data Extract tool (https://www.indiehackers.com/product/ebay-analytics-add-on-holding-name) which I launched last month. I think if this was my main source of income then I would be feeling more burned out but because it's more of a hobby at present I'm finding working on it quite enjoyable!

I think it's good to take time off every now and then. Good luck with that and hopefully the break means you can jump back into your IH project with a bit more energy!

Rosie, thanks for sharing your story and spread the word to help others! ❤️I'm part of the team behind it, burnout also took me down a few years back.

The thing with burnout is that most of us don't know the signals and don't see it coming till late.

Almost 100K people took the test and that shows us that prevent it is more important than ever. We're building a simple tool on Slack for this, happy to give early access to the indie hackers who need it. Just email me mars@ yerbo.co

I'm happy to answer any questions, guided by our head of behavioral science.

I went from HIGH to LOW, when comparing my last full-time job (80k/yr) to my current approach of trying to start a business with a few profitable products (in which I'm risking everything I own, spending approx. 28k in personal and professional expenses last year with a chance of possibly failing.) To me, the job I left defines a "toxic environment".

What a wonderful resource, @rosiesherry! Thank you! I will be spreading this far and wide, I may start using it with my own clients.

Thanks for sharing I needed this. I've been fairly certain I've been pretty burnt out at my day job this past year. But haven't addressed that. This gave me a burnout rate of high which was both frustrating and relieving to know.

Very neat!! Apparently I’m mid... would be interesting to take into account family life as well into the equation as I find that it can be a factor for exhaustion etc.,
