Finding Speakers to Present at Your Event

A few ideas to help you keep your stress low and your speaker confirmations flowing.

Helping to organize a meetup group can be extremely rewarding. I’ve been running various groups for over 10 years now and I only regret not getting starting sooner. Still, there is not much to love in the minutia of monthly tasks to keep everything going.

One of the most anxious tasks you’ll face is, how do you find speakers for the next event? This can be particularly stressful since it’s something that you can’t accomplish completely by yourself and getting commitment on something from another person is always a little bit harder. Here are a few ideas to help you keep your stress low and your speaker confirmations flowing.

Great reading for me As I'm also beginner in tech products. Now, I tried to read some blogs and article related to tech and sound system reviews, you can see one example here https://www.soundboxlab.com/hometheaters/tv-projector/best-4k-upscaling-tv/

I've run 2 meetup groups for several years, and finding presenters is indeed the biggest pain point. The linked post is spot on in that I make sure that the meetup happens every month for consistency, and also that I end up doing many of the presentations myself.

Thanks for sharing. I've tried to fill those empty agendas with things like round table discussions and even sometime watching a conference session recording and using that as a starting off point for conversation. Glad to hear your being consistent with the dates - that helps a ton. Good luck with your groups!

That's exactly what I've been doing. For a lot of the talks I do, I start off with a 10 minute YT video about the subject that covers the basics, then follow up with a few of my own related use cases. It works pretty well to get the topic point across without having to put in a ton of work into it on my part.

I do try to stress the interactive communication aspect of the group over just presentations. Otherwise, it's no different than watching a video on YT. Surprisingly some people don't like this and just want to see the presentation then leave. Personally I think that misses the point of a "meet-up".
