First ProductHunt launch

So this wasn't planned at all. I created the product 'Icebreakers' and a landing page in the last 36 hours to experience the product hunt launch feeling once. It'd be great even if one person finds it useful. Hoping the next pre-launch will be on a grander scale!

The product is a curated database of cold email opening lines from the best examples on the internet: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/icebreakers-d834e08f-dbbc-4bb6-bc50-840f8c5ff6eb

    Why stop only on headlines?

You can grow it into something special like snov.io

Start with no code and use their API. Offer your data driven templates like here

    What do you think?

P.S. Love your idea and a brand name is a killer!

Hey Artur, really appreciate your suggestions, especially coming from a sales pro!

I thought of headlines as a decent niche to begin with. But as you'd know in the process I'll be automatically collecting headlines, templates, etc too. So it's slowly turning into a wider repository but my plan was to include only those emails that are cited as effective(aka the author mentioned the results). But to increase the openers and be data-driven at the same time is a challenge. Also, the opening lines sometimes could be just average and the rest of the body could be the most engaging part. So my initial thinking may not be the best way to approach it.

Your suggestions are super insightful and I'll dabble with the snov API and templates idea this week.

I appreciate your warm words. Thanks, mate.
Look, last week I've came up with the idea of Newsletter hunt. Like Product, but for newsletters with tons of free value. And you know what? It exists.

Anyway, my friend told me that it's not bad. Simply adjust, narrow it down and add one-two features.

I don't agree. Russian billionaire Fridman was asked how he made 4 billion unicorn companies? He replied that at the beginning he doesn't do small things. Oil, gas, telecom and bank.

You have strong competitors. Close io, mailshake, woodpecker, etc. You name it. They are all obsessed with cold emails. Tons of free value, templates, newsletters.

How do you stand out from this noise?

Your last question will give me a few days of pondering ( I've set this deadline as this weekend to ideate, otherwise it'll be paralysis by analysis!). The narrow vs wide aspect is also interesting, sometimes starting by biting off more than you can chew could be the right amount of motivation one needs. Also at the end of the day rather than small vs big, people just care if it's actually useful. Let's see man, I'll drop a comment soon.

I'll be waiting because , because I'm curious.
I see this trend on Twitter, people build something in real time posting about their pass. Ups and downs. That's interesting. You write your story.
Stories sells like a clockwork. I've realised it last week during my day job.

            Talk soon!

Hey man, sorry to keep you waiting for all these months! But finally, I've started working on something useful around the idea of this post and making some progress. Would be great to have a chat if you're around.

Good work on doing a launch practically @akhilmk! 36 hours is pretty short duration for something like this but I'm glad you gave it a hands on try haha. I've been actually meaning to launch Ruttl in the coming weeks on PH.

QQ - What was the one lesson or learning that you derived from your launch? Would love to hear it 😄

Thanks, Harsh! I don't think I'm in a position to share a lesson yet. tbh, haven't even alerted my contacts who have done successful PH launches!

But writing the landing page and PH copy has given me better clarity regarding how this could be useful. So this will come in handy in the coming days for promotions in other places.

All the best for Ruttl and happy to keep an eye on the launch!
