Freemium model for our application. Is it the right thing to do?

Hey IH community!

We just launched the beta of LaunchiQ, a tool for product managers. We figured other solutions have classic pricing models mostly split in 3-4 tiers. So we decided to aim for novelty. :)

We are going for the freemium model with our tool. So I am curious for first hand experience. Did you try it as well? Did you stick with it, or have you encountered challenges like high cost and support efforts?

btw it's www.launch-iq.com if you're interested

hey @nic3r I think your space is already "complicated" in a certain sense so I'd try to make things uber simple for your future customer, and free trial seems like the simplest to me

if you want to add novelty though, can you emphasize the onboarding experience or anything else? that's what we do with my stuff, I take 2h with every new users to write their first sales sequence with them, then everything clicks and they're happy to start using my thing instead of figuring out everything by themselves

Very interesting approach, indeed. I just glanced through your website. You really go for the personal conversation :). I could imagine having a "book a meeting - get free onboarding" CTA on our website, as well as a CTA inside the app too. I will definitely think about that. Thanks!
