From #1 on ProductHunt to being unlisted

We launched Softr 2.0 - Web-App Builder on ProductHunt on December 1st, and reached to the top #1 spot 4 hours into the day 🎉 This was our 2nd launch (3 months later), after launching Softr 1.0 - Website Builder back in August.
Four hours later, Softr 2.0 was taken down by ProductHunt 😳🤷

Softr is the easiest no-code platform to build powerful web apps on Airtable, in 10 minutes. No code, no design skills required. 🔮
With Softr 2.0, you can now build dynamic web-apps like Listings, Online Courses, Job Boards, Upvoting Sites, Events Directories, E-commerce Sites, Service Marketplaces and more. Check it out here - https://www.softr.io/.

Softr 2.0 was the biggest product launch since its inception last year. According to ProductHunt's rules, it could be classified as a major change in the product, hence we were allowed to post on PH after 3 months.

The new product's major changes are 🎁

🤯 Unlimited Apps
🚀 6 Web-App Templates
🧩 60+ Building Blocks (Listings, List Details, Custom Forms, Email Capture, etc)
💎 Native Airtable integration
🔎 Search, Filtering, Sorting out of the box
🔁 Complete control of the mapped Airtable fields (show/hide fields)
🎨 Complete control of the design of your listings / filters / search bar
✔️ 2-way interactive web-apps (Show data from & add data back to Airtable)
💠 Airtable custom views (Control what to show to end users)

Unfortunately midway through the launch, it was taken down with reasoning that the 6 months release interval wasn't kept 🤯☠️

Regardless of what happened, we want to express our gratitude to everyone who voted for us, supported us throughout our journey of building Softr ✊ We'll keep you posted as we continue delivering new updates for Softr! ✍🏻

P.S. Main learnings - ProductHunt has stricten their rules, so make sure to keep the 6 month interval, and have really major changes between your products before you launch.

Would love to hear if anyone in the community has similar story behind the scenes! ✌🏻

I think that you are overusing the PH. U had successful launch on Aug 2020, and now you are coming with 2.0 version after 3 months. If you are continue like that you will be Softr 20.0 in 5 years, which is not point.

Slow down speedy and utilize different channels for growth.

I appreciate your feedback. Softr 2.0 refers to a completely new product - a web-app builder, hence the 2.0 version. It's not a new iteration, rather a major product change.
And startups move fast 😉 at least we do, so you are right, in 5 years time we hope to have a version which is unimaginably different & better than the current version!

Anyway, all best with the product and good luck 🤞

Marketing websites and web apps or products are fundamentally different.

I tried out Softr after hearing about b/c of this. I'm almost never on PH and wouldn't have seen it there. I was so impressed with Softr. A few of your competitors make it so you have to alter your data structure to quickly create listing pages. Softr doesn't and I loved that. The whole building process was easy and straightforward. Amazing product.

Ive been using Softr since August. There literally isnt any words to describe how easy it is to use, and to find value from. It's so easy. The founders are always available to handle one off issues, its been a blast!

Thanks for sharing and good job on the 2.0 release. I'm not sure what do you mean by

ProductHunt has stricten their rules, so make sure to keep the 6 month interval

Me at least, I've known about this page in the docs for a while. But I bet that's a good heads up for others.

Well maybe my mistake, as I thought it was previously 3 months, and have seen many products launched second time in 3 months interval, sometimes even earlier. It's completely unclear to me what's their decision criteria on that :)

We built 3 sites for 3 of our products. Copy and paste, change colour and copy. Boom. Done

Awesome @Indiearianna, it's great to hear you liked Softr! :)

So glad you posted, I remember seeing Softr on PH and thinking this is exactly what I need for an idea I want to validate.

I noticed on your site that User Accounts are in progress, do you have a rough estimate on when that is likely to be available?

    1. 1

It's up there please give it a try

    2. 1

Yes, we aim to have the User Accounts by the end of they year! 🤞
