Funmetric April 2021 Stats and Lessons Learned

April 2021 was a great month for me personally. Acquiring the courage to unveil my personal project to the world and see if any traction could be gained from word-of-mouth advertising.

On top of that, I wanted to share some of the lessons from a previous failed startup attempt and the reason I'm approaching Funmetric differently.

Lessons Learned

1. Don’t assume people will get instantly

2. Make products as friction-less as possible
If you require a multiple-page signup process just to get into a test phase, this had better be a godly experience to invest time to look at the project. The same goes for live products. I and many others are not going to signup for a free trial without a compelling enough reason.
People don’t search every day for solutions for their problems. People sometimes don’t even realize a problem they had before until someone points it out or an event triggers a realization.

Example: #blacklivesmatter

In the end, don’t assume and build a strategy that makes sense for the flow of your journey and goals.

3. Be Patient
So many times we get caught up in the process and excitement of launching we expect instant results.

4. Research from Pre-Production until… just never stop.
Beyond CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and any other form of analytics you should always take time to keep learning new tricks of your trade.

Sometimes new insights may appear from unlikely places.

5. Common Sense is still common sense
Read and Discuss everything you think will give you an advantage regardless if you heard it all before. Sometimes new insights may appear from unlikely places.

I pretty much just listen to everything good and bad and just analyze how it fits my life, goals, and personal success. All advice is always grey. Don’t expect results from a statement or course because you followed it to the letter. Many factors you have no control over will still influence your success, but you will always find success if you determine the measurement of what makes you happy.

6. Be the Only You
Enjoy the journey, enjoy the process, enjoy your life. Don’t stress over what you can not control.
