Giving back to the city you visit

Hi, this is sort of an idea validation topic too but goes perfectly with the discussion topic.

As a digital nomad, would you be willing to subscribe to a service that can ship you care packages for the homeless you see while in that city? The packages could be shipped ahead of time and when you arrive they'll be there for you to give back as a token of appreciation.

If walking the city with a potential client, this may be a good opportunity to show gratitude for their city; including the bonus discussion and trust you may gain.

I've done this multiple times myself, shipped to the hotel/apartment/airbnb I was staying at because I never had the time to pick up all the potential items in a care package; including being much more expensive in the city and regular stores. I'd do this under an existing organization I have setup (careandjoypackages.com)

@nictrix I absolutely love the altruism inherent in the concept. Imagine, exponentially, what this could really do in the world? Kudos for working on a project that has some meaning to it!

Your posting reminds me of the very first time I went to Las Vegas for a tech conference (Sage Summit, believe it or not!). I was bowled over by the contrast between these ostentatious monstrosities jotting up from the barren desert, draped in their neon and led garb and the sheer amount of human suffering in the form of homelessness I saw on the strip. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around that juxtaposition.

Thanks for the comments, I'm hoping this sparks some people into action.

Interesting fact: there's another company out there, with the same objective, and its name is joy care packages.

Similar for sure, but not for the homeless - but for college kids. There are a ton of those package outfits out there, especially for the miltary

This is an interesting concept. I don't know about care packages for the homeless, but I'd sign up to donate or do a one-day community event for a non-profit organization local to the city (and actually does good for the community).

That could be a great add-on; schedule out non-profit events. Thanks!
