Goal: get first paying customer (day 4)

Yesterday:

  • 🎉 Got 1 new subscriber through the landing page: https://www.palabra.io/?ref=indie
  • Still struggling to understand what is the value people who are subscribing are seeing. Is it the integration with other tools? The spreadsheet-like interface? Just the fact that it helps them send personalized emails?
  • Worked on development, solved and issue and developed 2 new features.

Today:

  • Will start working on a big feature. Should have it done today.

    Really clean website.

The name is one of the best I've come across in a long while. Hat's off to you!

    Now the nitty gritty.

Let's think like a new user...

    When you say:

"Connect your tools to import contacts and use our smart filtering to send personalized emails."

In my head I ask - "What tools do you integrate with?"

Then I have to scroll through 5 panels before I find out - too many panels.

Throw the logos right under the subheading and before the sign up box.

It's a non-starter and a waste of my time if you don't integrate with what I'm using - save me time.

Check, I use something you integrate with.

Next great screenshot that shows the actual platform - this is really great, more people should do this, problem there is a lot of information on it and it's distracting and I don't know where I should be looking on the page or what I should be looking at. Get rid of it.

The value propositions under "what you get" are in the wrong order.

As a user my next question is - how hard is it to set up and get running for a test?

Talk to me about easy integration - put my mind at ease that this is going to be stupid simple.

So here's where people are going to freeze - and you need to anticipate this.

Emails aren't something people should be dumping into multiple platforms to test - privacy and all.

Ideally, what I want as a marketer, is to do this:

    1. Know that you integrate with a platform I'm currently using
    2. Be able to see dummy data in the platform without moving over my data but test the integration (let me download a copy of a google sheet to test with you can include this in the welcome email)
    3. Be able to sent a test email to the account I sign up with

I should be able to see how things work in less than 15 mins which is about all the time I really have in my day to give this a first glance.

    Spreadsheet-like table of contacts.
Filter your contacts to learn about them or to send them a message, or edit them by double-clicking on a row just like you would on a spreadsheet.

Too many "ors"^^ too many options.

"Your contacts organized, sort or edit like a spreadsheet. Email like a pro."

Gmail - I missed this bit until I got to the pricing, I would have been pissed if I signed up earlier and I couldn't use it because this wasn't up top. This has to be up higher. If I use Microsoft I'm out of luck. In the first panels I need to know this tool is for Gmail users that integrate with either mailchimp, hubspot, or have an existing spreadsheet.

Then I need to know how easy it is to get started - a video of start to finish would be interesting to see. Get started in less than 5 mins we mean it - boom.

It looks like you've got your own form builder and email collector which is pretty cool. The question I have is how dynamic is it?

And to answer your question as to why people are subscribing, see if you can't include that in the opening email you send out on confirmation.

Hey, thank you very much for taking the time to put this together. I'm working hard on development right now but will go back to fixing the landing page in a few days and will apply many of the things you are suggesting. Thank you!!

No worries! I love the easy concept for people just starting out. For a lot of people this is absolutely the only thing they need. Look forward t following your progress!

      Solid gold right here. 100%.

Awesome job getting users!! By far the easiest way to get a real answer from everyone who has signed up is to ask them. I would highly recommend sending a sign up email that says something like:

Thank you so much for signing up, this is the founder, Karen. I'd love to serve you the best I can. Can you reply to this email with the reason you are signing up? That helps me create the best experience I can for you! Looking forward to helping!

    Just registered. Looks promising 👍

The landing page is easy to browse through and understand.

    I registered for:

    1. The access to templates and the chance to improve our current email bodies.
    2. Possible replacement for a tool like Intercom: lead/customer knowledge platform with communication functionality

    Best of luck!

      Thank you very much!
