Seems like a big change for the extension maker community!
New developers will now need a few months of good behavior to get that golden "trusted developer" status, otherwise users see a scary warning on install.
Some thoughts & questions that come to mind...
- For a new dev to pass the test, do they need to have an extension that's actually used (and if so, how much)? Presumably we can't just upload a "hello world" and let it sit there for a few months to get trusted?
- If we need usage to get trusted, is it going to be pretty hard to attain that when the "untrusted" warning is scaring users away?
- Maybe it doesn't matter because we know that most people tend to ignore and click through all warnings anyway?

If it is for only a couple of months, then it is not going to be that big of a deal. The extensions usually take some months.
Also, it says couple of months for dev account, and not the extension. So if you have a dev account you can have multiple extension and it might not show this message.
