Got 20 New Premium Subscribers Within 2 Days By Letting People Set Their Price

Hi,
Michal here!

I have a Freemium Newsletter http://kickstartsidehustle.com/ providing viral marketing case studies.

I was stuck taking care of my grandparents. My whole family was on quarantine (strange times!), I figured I wanted to test something.

I've checked my email list of 1200~people, looking for the highly engaged users, that were receiving my emails for at least 1,5 months.

I came upon 400 emails of people that have opened my every email, at least a few times.

I emailed them with the offer:
I let them choose the price (I use gumroad for subscription) starting at $5/Year. They could stick with $5 or could pay more.

My usual subscription costs $50/year, but I knew that for some people even that price could be high, especially outside the US.

The results of 2,5 days of promo:

  • 13 users $5/year
  • 2 users $6/year
  • 1 user $7/year
  • 2 users $10/year
  • 1 user $15/year
  • 1 user $50/year
    = $169

It's not much, but at least I know I've helped a few people - received a few "Thank You" emails ;)
