Has anyone tried advertising on Product Hunt?

I've been thinking of trying Product Hunt's paid promotion feature, as my product is aimed at other makers and it did well when I originally hunted it (https://www.producthunt.com/posts/divjoy-4).

Unfortunately, I wasn't yet charging when I launched on Product Hunt, so I don't have a good sense of my product's conversion rate with that audience. Has anyone tried advertising on PH? Was it worth it?

    @Gabe

    My company Hue was approached by Product Hunt at the beginning of the platform offering paid advertising. I recall it being around $4,000 for a 24 hour placement, and I don't think the price has gone down. I think it depends on what you're promoting and what sort of success you've seen thus far on there organically as to whether it's worth it.

      $4,000 for a 24 hours placement? Wow! Would have to see a strong return for a price like that!

      Ok that’s way out of my price range for now. Thanks for the info.

        It's way out of "most" people's price range. I thought they might drop it for more early stage startups or were open for negotiation, but I had no such luck.

    Interesting, I didn't know they even offered advertising. I'd be curious to know what it costs but, unfortunately, I do not see any pricing on their site. Only a Typeform for more information. Your product does seem like a good fit for the maker community.

        Very insightful, thanks!

    Did you add any features since your launch on PH? If so you could instead try to relaunch it and have a special offer for PHers.

      I believe you have to wait 6 months before sharing again, but definitely going to do a Divjoy v2 post when I can.

    Never tried and no budget at all @Gabe

    Often see Monday and Hotjar using their paid ad service. You might want to ask someone from these companies.

    Would you consider Job Ad of PH instead :)?

    Off topic but, you worked on a project for 6 months then launched on PH without charging? 🧐🤦‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

      Hah yup. The plan was to charge for fancier templates. Definitely underestimated what people would pay for the existing feature set 🤷🏼‍♂️

        One price = Access to an ever-growing library. Value increases over time, gets people using the product.
