Have you tried cold calling?

After talking extensively to sales leaders, coaches, and other founders, it seems like cold calling is a preferred outbound tactic.

But how do you cold call without sounding like the spam calls you get everyday?

Does anyone here cold call, and how do you do it effectively?

Not an expert, just putting in my two cents.

I prefer to warm up the contact by sending a cold email or via social media prior to a call. Mostly since I 'm introverted and would like to establish a connection before talking. Of course, there are many industries where people don't check emails regularly, so cold calling still works.

I have done cold calls on a few occasions for getting client meetings for an agency, making event invites, and so on. Used a script(printed). But the funny thing is after 3-4 calls the momentum is amazing and it feels like you can even call the president. Making the first call is the toughest part.

I'm tired of cold calls. And there is no way to stop them. But it's possible to reduce cold and spam calls. The best way to reduce such calls is to check numbers via phone lookup service.

Start with having a good list of prospects to include valid phone numbers. Nothing slows down the momentum like hitting a bunch of not in service lines.

Use a script, but utilize bullet points instead of word-for-word sentences. Remember, people can HEAR a smile on the phone. Stay calm and have fun.

hey Amanda! Looking forward to our call later today. And yeah, I'd consider myself an expert in Cold Calling, probably placed 30k calls over the last 8 years. Here's a little cheat sheet about cold calling, hopefully it's helpful for you.

I do cold calling both for my agency and the product I'm working on. Can't say that I've been successful in closing deals yet, but I do get meetings through them.

I'd say doing prep work is important. Know who you're calling, what's their position in the firm etc. Also it might be helpful to know how the firm is doing. What are their current key strategies and areas of focus etc. If you can't find this information on the specific company you're targeting, try to get a feel what's going on in their industry.

Having a script helps as well.
