Help me with ideas and I'll owe you one! ๐Ÿ™

In the hunt for new clients for https://dienox.com we are looking for ideas to get leads. We offer unlimited design for a fixed price a month, including front-end web development. So it is B2B.

The businesses that generally work with us are either startups, scale-ups or small businesses that have needs like social media, flyers or a website. We can save them an enormous amount of time.

I am thinking about contacting gyms, theaters, software agencies and franchises.

Could you help me with more ideas? I'll owe you one. You can ask me anything and I'll help where I can!

Thank you in advance! ๐Ÿ™

    Beautiful website!

Thank you very much! We would love to work with you so let me know if you need anything, we love fellow IH'ers so if the current plans are to high priced just let me know what you need and we'll figure it out. You can contact me on [email protected]. Good luck with NetcoreSaas!

In the past, I started a web development agency, with a few friends to join. I also had the idea of go and talk with cafe owners, gyms, local shops.

One day, a friend told me "They are tired of hearing people ask to do websites". It's partly true, though you can try.

Besides, you can try emails, or reach people out on Linkedin.

I found a post from an IH member Growing to $7500/mo By Talking to Customers via LinkedIn

I can relate to the fact that they are getting tired of it, which I can imagine now that every kid in the block offers them a website. (Which is a good thing, I can just relate to business owners getting the question a lot).

Thanks for the article share! Has some very valuable tips.

I'm glad it helped and all the best!

    Check out https://requeststartup.substack.com/

It's my newsletter about Get a New Startup Idea Every Week. Startup from Zero in 2020!!

Thanks for the tip! Looks great

I get at least two emails and one LinkedIn connection request a week from web dev shops - maybe that type of business is a possible target for you as they are probably more dev focused, but still need design as part of their offering.
I have a startup studio / venture builder, which is also a good target, and I'll reach out later.
    Cheers

    1. 2

We have a few clients that fit that target audience so you might be right! Send me an email at [email protected] and I'd be happy to discuss your venture! Thank you for your feedback.

    How about co-working places?

    1. 1

Good one! How did I not thought of this, there is a really big one in the same street as our office. Thank you! ๐Ÿ™

The website is great! What you need is a case study. People are not sure what they will get in the end. Make sure you include all the relevant details

    • How much money the client spent
    • How much time the client spent
    • What was the input from the client
    • What was the output
    • Timeline
    • etc.
    1. 1

Thank you for your feedback! You make a very valid point. We will include this in our next update, thanks :)

    Here is some idea

    1. Publish free e-book to be your lead magnet, make sure your ebook relevant with your services and audience. Advertise the book using facebook ads.

    2. You can use getcyberleads.com by @alexwest, you can find hundred startup who raised money.

    3. Advertise on google adword and put facebook retargeting pixel on your website, you can retarget visitor from google ads and offer discount in your fb ads.

    4. In this situation, I suggested to targeting business who thrive in this pandemic, like gym equipment store, Ecommerce, or Healthcare

    1. 1

Thank you so much! We are working on an ebook and I will most definitly checkout getcyberleads. Thank you!

Any reason you're limiting it to only b2b, not b2c?

    1. 1

Very interesting thought! In what cases do you see a consumer benefit from this?

      1. 2

I am not entirely sure of all the designs you include in your offering but think of consumers who are running campaigns for their personal brands - twitter marketing, blogs, websites, etc.

Secondly, there might be use cases where someone needs your service for a very limited time for ex: a one-off logo design, or an app design. It seems none of the current pricing models you have will cater to that need.

        1. 2

Thanks for your thoughts on this topic, trying to see if we can do some B2C is interesting.

You are very right about the fact that there is no possibility to get a 1 time job now, while we have heard this before. I bumped this up in the last.

Thanks for your time and feedback! Highly appreciated ๐Ÿ™

There are some tools for mass cold mailing, and that is probably the most scalable way to reach out to potential new customers. You can use a chrome extension to get targeted emails from LinkedIn using Boolean search, then use reply.io to schedule emails and follow ups that look just as if they had been sent manually. This way you can target different groups and write emails that best suit them. There is a lot of content online on cold emailing.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I did not knew about tools to find people email from Linekdin, I will check this out asap. Thanks for your time! ๐Ÿ™

    Hi Marijn,

When Uclusion first started we would have killed to have access to a https://dienox.com. Instead we had to assemble our own team of part timers and it was not easy to do that.

I'm sure you are already doing this but my suggestion is use Crunchbase and reach out to every new startup. Had we gotten a reasonable offer back then after incorporation we surely would have responded.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but maybe you could help me. We have begun marketing to agencies like yours by interviewing them on their needs and whether our current product meets them. If you are available please sign up for a walk through off our website.

    Thanks,
    David

    1. 1

      Hi David,

Thanks for telling your story! It gave me a lot of energy, good to hear you managed in the end.

Thanks for the tip on Crunchbase, I was for a matter of fact not doing this yet! So your tip is very very helpfull.

How is Uclusion doing now? After researching your website I understand what you are doing, but I can see a lot of wins when it comes to your customer journey. If you're interested in seeing if we can help each other you feel free to send me an email at [email protected] .

Thanks for your time, it is highly appreciated! ๐Ÿ™

In normal times I would tell you to start attending tech conferences. Tons of motivated software engineer wantrepreneurs would rather outsource their design work for their next big idea. It might make sense to focus a pricing tier around that, or just create a different landing page focusing on the benefits for those types of users.

It seems like you're Euro centric, is there any easy way for you to expand to the US and Canada?

    1. 1

Thanks for your time! In normal times I would most definitely head out there, TNW (The Next Web) would have been perfect for this. Let's hope we can attend next year..

You make valid point about a different landing page for engineers starting a new project, maybe we can exclude things like presentation design and focus on UX/UI in that special plan?

We are based in The Netherlands and have clients around the globe (none in Canada as far as I know). The next step for US/Canada expansion would be to setup a US company.

Thanks again for your time and feedback! ๐Ÿ™

I like the idea of your product! Have you found many clients to work with yet? What types of responses are you getting so far from emails?

Your landing page copy could use a bit of work to target a more specific type of person maybe. You have good information in the rest of the site, but maybe you could say "Need a designer on your team?" - instead of "we make design affordable...for everyone."

Also you said it yourself - you can save them tons of time - use an example of a real client whose time you saved. Canny.io has a great line: "Costs less than building the wrong feature." Maybe something to that effect, and reference a flier or website design they spend too much time and money on.

The lines I wrote may not be perfect but it gets at a more personal side, since "everyone" is by default not personal. Then maybe this can influence changes elsewhere in your site.

For getting more leads, maybe try to find people that are paying for tools like Canva. Not sure how you'd do that but those people aren't using a more serious design tool yet are willing to pay money for it for social media/etc. Finding FB groups about small businesses in a local area could help also, and if what you're offering is something they actually need, you could join and just say what you do

    1. 2

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to write this, you are one of the reasons why I love this community!

We have found enough clients so far to make a profit and all of the emails we send come back with mostly positive responses. I am now trying to figure out what is the best way to find leads, which industry responds to what and so on.

Until now I was just shooting and contacting as many people as possible, while still continuing that I am also trying to improve our lead generation so it is more efficient and less time consuming. Do things that don't scale! It works.

Thanks for the tip on the local fb groups, did not thought about that yet! I've putted it on the list and will give it a try. We will also re-consider the website copy, I've been receiving a lot of feedback on it right after I hired someone to re-do it. Can't always win right.

Thank you for your time! Let me know if I can ever do anything for you ๐Ÿ™

For sure, happy to lend a couple thoughts : )

Will let you know if we need another eye for something!

    1. Nice domain, easy to remember
    2. Nice mix of colors - shows the team is good in design.
    3. The one page site thing is good. Maybe you can add the buttons for going back to the top or going to specific section>pricing>about us. I should not have to scroll all the way.
    4. I may not be able to answer your Strategy question. But i think your monthly charge scares away some Very small SMEs. Have something for the.
    5. Add the word "only" after the $$$, to make it sound "small". Squeeze in the word "as little as $$$ somewhere. To make it even sound small.
    6. How expensive can a lifetime subscription be? Just thinking aloud.
    1. 1
      1. Glad to hear!
      2. I will pass on the compliment, thank you :)
      3. Good one! Wrote it down for the next iteration.
      4. Did not hear that before, but I do agree with what you are saying. Gonna give this some more thoughts. Thanks.
      5. Noted! Very smart.
      6. That is a very interesting question! I tried to do the math but it is a tough one, our business model still sells hours but we just finance them differently. If we ever do something like that it would probably be in the tens of thousands dollars..

Anyway; thank you for your time and feedback! Let me know if we can help with https://laptopsguide.com , you can mail me at [email protected] and we can always make a sweet deal for a fellow IH'er ๐Ÿ™

    1. How about collaboration ?

Currently I'm offering LTD on custom canva templates.
    https://products.digitalmaryada.com/ultimate-custom-templates-bundle
Probably we can plan and come up with something beneficial.

    1. Not sure about pin-point ideas but how much planned are you at this stage ?
    2. How is the overall feedback from existing customers ?

    Have you tried...

    • Restaurants
    • Smaller hobby shops
    • Stores that focus on a smaller niche (bikes repairs, food catering, etc.)

I would also suggest going on the Indiehackers product section and finding potential leads/clients for your service.

    ------

So I sell easy-to-use HTML themes and templates on my website buildfaster.co.

I would like you to download the free theme Half-Half and let me know on the following:

    • Does the code look organized? Can you understand how to edit the content of the webpage?
    • What is stopping you from purchasing a paid theme. This is the problem I have with most customers. They get the free theme but don't come back.

    Thanks for you help!

Checkout Diffbot for marketing intelligence https://www.diffbot.com/use-cases/market-intelligence/

Disclosure: I done some work for them.

  17. 1

Have you tried posting your designs on dribbble.com and others like it?

Subscription model would work for agencies who provide website development service or digital marketing (responsive landing page or ads). Because they are the ones who can benefit with unlimited design changes. But, they may already have one in-house.

For others, like a SaaS owners here, may not need to redo landing page every month and for some the monthly subscription cost may not justify. Therefore, you should have one-time price based for per page.

  18. 1

I would probably try changing the button after "Finding it hard to commit?" from "Yes, I'm in" to "Can't say no to risk-free". Maybe it's a little too much, but I would give it a shot with A/B testing if you can.
That section caught my eye after scrolling by because of the "Finding it hard to commit?" -> "Yes, ..."
