Holy crap, I did it!

So 2 weeks after having an idea I launched the website!!! I've never moved this fast on a project before. I've banned myself from writing any code for this project until it is making money.

I've launched Career Switch To Coding (careerswitchtocoding.com) on Carrd, shared on my coding Instagram (@allthecode), I've written two blog posts, set up Mailchimp to take sign-ups and I have written the first chapter of the book I will launch by the end of July. I also need to make templates and worksheets by then as well.

I'm very excited about this, usually I would build some big piece of software for 6 months and then quietly launch it. Not this time! We've gone public baby!

Time to Build In Public!

I think this is a great practice. I typically set usage or revenue goals for things. Great way to balance my time.

Thanks, coding is a hobby for me so I can trick myself into thinking coding is a productive use of time when it isn’t always 😀

    Good mate.

Perfect type of product to launch early too, so glad you did it.

Congrats! You've learned your lessons. Now go make real money!

I’m between jobs for the next month so I should be able to give a real 100% effort too

Congrats! As a former lawyer-turned engineer/founder, I would have loved something like this!

      That’s great to hear, thanks

    Congrats!
    Super excited for you

      Thanks, I am too 😀

That's awesome! Congrats on shipping so much!

Thank you, much more to come

    Cool, congrats.

Fun fact, I read the domain name as 'careers witch to coding' at the beginning, it doesn't make sense but well...

Yeah I can see that, I figure since most people with click/tap it won’t be a big issue but it might turn out to be one of those things I which I’d spent more time before pulling the trigger 😂

I'm so excited for you! BTW, I'm a multi decade tech industry alum and entrepreneur and I just got a valuable reminder from you. So often I let perfection be the enemy of progress. If it doesn't ship it doesn't count. So thank you for setting me straight.

Oh wow, thank you. I’ve let fear of “not good enough”, “too simple” and “too embarrassing” paralyse me for too long so I’m pushing through the sticky bits and moving forward

Great stuff! Congrats on the launch. It's great to hear from people with coding background they struggle to stay away from code. As a nocoder myself my problem is to get more into it. Great seeing these transfer platforms come to life. Not just get into nocode with no experience, but to get into actual coding. One question: How is it different from any major paid or free code learning platform? Or even lambdaschool? I am curious :)

So the plan is not to teach coding but to handle the career gap between learning to code and actually getting a job. Many people are unsure how to get their first job and highlight the skills they have recently acquired and the skills from previous career and jobs.

      1. 2

Ah okay I got it. Excited to see how you progress with paying customers!

        1. 2

Thanks, yeh I’m going for a smaller more focussed niche that I think is underserved 😀

          1. 1

Awesome! Have you done Customer Discovery interviews to validate if your assumptions pan out to be correct for potential early adopters?

  10. 2

Wow! This sounds amazing! Congrats, Simon. This is how things should be. You are better of publishing something fast and getting feedback instead of spending 6 months on something that you have no idea whether would actually reach customers.

    Good luck!

Thanks - I've spent nearly a year on previous projects only to get nothing from them so this is a total change for me

This is dope AF Simon. Kudos to you and others who have supported you. Cheers :)

Thank you, I'm getting a lot of love on my Instagram account for it at the moment so that's really nice

    1. 1

Thank you, really excited to have something out so soon

  12. 2

Congratulations Simon! It will be nice to follow your adventures in public starting from now :)

    Hey Simon!
I'm building something similar with my project. Let's connect!

Awesome, have spotted your email in my inbox - will reply when I’m back at my desk, probably tomorrow at this point 😀
