How about we help each other? *Pinned*

Not gonna lie, this was my master plan all along. Hear me out now. I'm sure some of you saw the wave of the "Let's help each other on blah" and "Let's follow each others on blah", so like, why don't we, the IH add-on makers, help each other out as well?

Besides the deep well of knowledge we're going to accumulate here, we should start a tester and reviewer group to help promote each others IH projects across all the stores we list on!

This isn't a pay-for-play or tit-for-tat kind of a deal. Some stores don't even list reviewer names. This is to help each other with direct feedback and do so in a way that helps our projects grow. The biggest issue is almost always marketing and one of the best highlights of a successful add-on is user count, ratings and reviews left. Together we can help our projects get off the ground!

Please leave your email address and list of your add-ons at this google form and I'll start the process as the list grows. I'll attempt a single email a week, and perhaps it will actually help us.

After week 2 the list is just 3 people. Common folks!

Great idea. Just joined this community. I am from Microsoft and looking to listen to devs who build for Microsoft Edge. Happy to help with anything related to MS Edge Addons Store. You can DM me (@varadarajans on Twitter)

        1. 1

is it worth the trouble, i mean are there any stats on the traffic there is on it to make worth it publishing there?

          1. 1

70% of all Microsoft Edge users install their extensions from Edge Add-ons site. And Edge addons install grew by 23% just from this Jan

You can check for public data on Edge market share news.

            2. 1

a link will be use-full i like to see the real numbers

              1. 1

Regarding organic installs, we can discuss in detail. I am available at @varadarajans on Twitter.

With respect to stats dashboard, that is a request we have in our backlog. As we pick up this work, you will see updates about this in our insider channel blogs at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-edge-insider/ct-p/MicrosoftEdgeInsider

                  1. 1

Exactly, this is a good way

                  2. 1

also if it was easy to just like submit the url of chrome extension and add it to edge it will be really helpful

                    1. 2

There are a few additional steps needed to port. While it can be made easier (feedback taken), for now you can follow the steps listed at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/extensions-chromium/developer-guide/port-chrome-extension

You can reach out to the team as well - contact details available at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/extensions-chromium/publish/contact-extensions-team

                  3. 1

thanks for sharing my extension is paid i hope its in rules?

                    1. 1

You can drop a note to [email protected] and get an official clarification

  2. 2

Hey! Great Idea! Why the email list though, can we not just post our projects here for people to checkout?

I'd be more than happy to try out, review, and leave feedback for fellow extension developers!

    1. 2

Well, the main reason is that not everyone checks IH daily, and chances of them visiting this board is even lower. With an email list there is more possibility of control as well, however, these things are not exclusionary =)

  3. 1

Member #334 here. Brilliant idea, and I will definitely participate 🙌

  4. 1

Hi @Soft_Re, is this "project" still active? I have signed up some time ago but never received any email.

    1. 1

Excellent question. I just checked the email list and its up to 14 email addresses. Not likely to be a massive shift, but I'll send the inaugural email to the participants sometime this week.

  5. 1

Just saw your post! Am sharing you my list of extensions. Currently it's for firefox. Happy to do the same.

  6. 1

I am guessing we should apply when we have a published app store link? :)

    1. 1

      That's preferable, but not required.

  7. 1

Add me to the list :D

Now that is a good idea. I have tried reviewsub before, but its sneaky and did not produce results.
