How to Develop Speed as a Habit
Embrace your mistakes
Mistakes and failures do not equate to the same thing. Do not let mistakes slow you down. Take the learning element from the experience and ensure that you do not make the same error again. There is always something to be learned from.
Make decisions efficiently and execute on them
All else being equal, the fastest company to market, will usually win. Particularly in tech, speed is seen primarily as an asset in product development. Speed can become habitual though. As you garner feedback from your customers and begin to refine your feedback loop, you can execute decisions faster. This is the crux of developing speed as a habit. Make decisions, and execute on them.
Many will argue that executing at speed leads to a loss of quality. Until you reach a point at which you are gaining market traction though, executing at speed and rapidly iterating allows startups to capture market share quickly.
Delegate decision Making
Empower others on your team to make decisions without the need to seek agreement with everyone. As a business owner, you should be as close as possible to your end-users. If other team members are in close contact with your ideal customer, empower them to get the data they need to make decisions. We spoke about the importance of customer interviews before. Teams that execute fast and achieve success usually have less centralized decision making structures.

Write down all features that the app should have. Then write in detail about each feature. This helps me think what the feature would function like and it forces me to think about how it would work. This is also the point where I can realize if some features are the same or not needed.
After this, I leave it alone for a few days to let my mind relax a bit over the features.
I come back to it and re-read everything. I tweak anything that doesn't sound right. If I'm happy with the features I outline how I would build it out in phases. This way I can hopefully not try to build everything at once.
The one thing I try to do more during this entire process is to talk to someone about these ideas. That way I get some feedback early on.
