How can you hire a developer if you don't have money to pay.

So l have hired an agency to work on my website.but they delivered a half backed website called mvp.now we have alot of things that we need to fix on the site and l dont have any more resources to spend on the site again.whenever l request for something to be done on the site.they will send me a ridiculous bill.l had a good relationship with the developer from the agency.and he has been helping me alot with the site maintenance...but l am at his mercy all the time.whenever he takes off.project is paused.....l feel frustrated with the way this project is going right now.and l do not want to abadon my project.so how can l hire a developer to help me fix the site if l don't have money to pay...

You should probably chock this up to a 'lesson learned'. It's almost always best not to throw good money after bad. Did you ink a contract that included a scope of work with this agency? If not, caveat emptor, I'm afraid.

Another suggestion would be to learn to code a bit and eventually finish it yourself. Or kick the concept into a no-code platform.

      Thank you for the suggestions.

It is hard to find a developer without spending money.

There are a few different ways that you can follow. One option is to post a job listing on websites like Upwork or Freelancer and see if you can find someone that way. Another option is to reach out to developers that you know personally and see if they would be interested in working on a project-based basis. Finally, you could also try contacting development agencies and see if they have any freelancers available.

Either learn to do it yourself, or live with a broken toilet. Developers don't owe you free labor.

https://www.ashob.com/ is your website, right? I'm wondering why did you go the route of building a custom web store when the same could be done by WordPress / WooCommerce, or using a hosted solution such as Shopify?

Unless you have something really, really specific to your marketplace / online store, I wouldn't recommend building a custom solution. Even with that, you can use an existing open source project as a foundation and build on top of that.

I work as a Solutions Architect with early-stage startups, mostly U.S based. I would not have recommended building a custom application for an online store because it's reinventing the wheel.

If you'd like to get an honest opinion about the direction you should take, I will be happy to help.

Wordpress is a great platform for sure, it will get you up and running pretty quickly in a lot of cases, great themes and plugins. If you can do it using off the shelf products like Wordpress with themes and plugins, then that’s a great approach.

However it’s worth realising that once you start building custom things, it’s like any other piece of custom software, it’s possible to build a Wordpress monstrosity too. And it’s a big framework, if you ever need to digg into it yourself, it might be tough. Sometimes it’s better to build something small, extremely focused on a very specific bit of functionality, with very little code. It’s a lot easier to master that. Start small and grow as your understanding of the landscape grows.

The real world analogy would be that buying a prefab shed is very different to building your own shed, which is different to a buying a ready made house, which is different to building your own house, which is different again to building an extension to an existing house, which is different again to building an entire sky scrapper, neighbourhood, town, city, moonbase, Mars colony etc etc

All this to say it’s worth having an understanding of some of the tech, don’t just assume that Wordpress will solve all your problems. You might find that another technology is more suited to your needs.

I wrote an article about the Reasons for choosing NodeJS to build your backend systems which you might find interesting, even if it’s just for getting a broader understanding of the landscape.

Thank you so much...so what is your suggestion...if l can do it again l would definitely not try this approach building from scratch...but do you think there is a way out...

Have your data extracted out of the current platform and then hire a dev for once and all to map it to an existing system, such as WordPress / WooCommerce. You can easily use that moving forward.

It's a one-time thingy but will save you more pain in the future.

Go on Upwork / Fiverr, hire someone to perform the migration. It should cost you anywhere between $250 USD - $400 USD depending on how much you can negotiate the price.

Start with a basic installation of WordPress/WooCommerce. It's so easy you can do it yourself. You will have a WP-database up and running this way. The next step is to hire someone for the migration. Tell them to extract the data from your current data store, and map it to the WP database, so you can have it there.

Once the migration is complete, now you can proceed with building on the WordPress site. There are a lot of WP devs out there, so you can find someone on a budget and start iterating over the site.

Thank you all for your comment....my website is an ecommerce platform called Ashob.com l have been checking all the nocode sites that you shared within the comment....hopefully l would find one that fits my needs. But it seems l might need a developer to intergrate the templates into my existing platform.

For a website or webapp I would recommend Webflow. For mobile or web app Adalo works well with a no-code backend and automations with Zapier. I'd be happy to help.

Depending on what your website / business is about you could always incentivise either a single developer or a software agency with equity. So give away equity in exchange for services. It really depends on what you're building though...

As has been mentioned, I'd say a no-code platform would be the simplest way to get this up and running. Depending on the requirements, I've heard Carrd is great: https://carrd.co/.

What are you building? Bubble.io is your best option here. You can look at some of my work using the link below to get an idea of the possibilities with no-code.

It'd work for the vast majority of websites, depending on the level of interactivity you need. You could even use something like Wordpress, Wix, etc.
