How do you get traffic to your web/product site

I wonder how other Indie Hackers get traffic to their website/product site. I seem to struggle to get enough traffic on my website https://fp.mut1ny.com for two months now. I've tried a few things but sucess rate has been very little.
So I wonder what people in general do? Or do I need to be more patient and just keep on digging away.

Do people rely on GoogleAds or social media Ads? My experience with social media Ads so far has been little but that little I tried did not convince me that it has a worthwile ROI. I have not tried GoogleAds yet though but before diving into that I would like to know what other's people experience is?

I think many have a good blog. But that takes some time. Otherwise try to get featured in newsletters (e.g. https://first1000.substack.com/), or launch on Product Hunt and of course on my website :) https://melbado.com/. And then, being active on IH and Reddit helps, too.

Thank you for your input! I have to say I find Product Hunt massively confusing

Thank you for adding your startup! I totally agree with your view on PH. I also find it quite confusing.

I started with some ads, and didn't see the early behavior I wanted. More info:

I've since turned to cold contacting people, but it's much more about market research than customer development at this point. It's a long slough but I am learning things.

    Best of luck.

Thank you for sharing the link and your experience. I have dabbled in using TwitterAds and PinterestAds on a small level just to dip my feet in and see what happens but both did not seem to generate that much traffic to make it worthwhile even if I would increase the budget tenfold.
