How do you make backups? Do you make backups?

I'm currently researching the possible launch of a backup service that would be located in the EU. To get some more focus I would like to know how you make backups of your servers and your business files.

Where do you store them, how long do you keep them? Are there any special considerations you had when choosing this strategy? Are there any legal requirement you should follow? Are your backups protected against malicious access of your servers, i.e. can the be deleted by a hacker?

Would be great to hear some of your ideas and considerations about backups, thanks!

Cronjob every day at 1600 which does curl to my own NextCloud server directory that only allows File Uploads (https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/10.0/user_manual/files/file_drop.html)
Database isn't big enough to delete previous backups yet, but I will have to do that at some point.
The NextCloud account is protected with a strong randomly generated password and no one is able to view the backups without logging into the actual account.

That sounds like a great solution! Never heard about the File Drop functionality. Thanks for your input.
