How do you market your SAAS? Anyone help I'm a newbie.

Hey, Indiehackers I don't want to make this long and boring so I'll make it short and easy to read.

I want to start a SAAS startup but have NO IDEA OF GETTING CUSTOMERS/MARKET SAAS.

As most of you guys are already experienced regarding this topic I wanted to ask you this question(Asking experienced one is definitely helpful and practical than googling it).

Answers will be highly appreciated!

Hi. One way to think about this is to ask yourself this questions about starting a business in general.

You are basically saying, I want to start a business and I have no idea how to get customers or how to market my business. If you don't know, how are we supposed to know and help you?

What do you want to make to sell online?
Why do you think its a good idea to sell, what you intend to make?
What kind of people buy the thing you want to make?
How do they find out about it?
    Where do they hang out?
    Where do they live?

This is a great question @slothonsteroid. I think content marketing is still a very under-utilized marketing tool for early startups and SaaS companies.

    1. Define Your Ideal Customer
Creating your ideal customer persona is an exercise that will help you better define your leads.
    2. Find Your Leads
Think of the 2 or 3 core platforms or communities that are relevant to your niche product or service.
    3. Create Content your Leads will love
Immerse yourself in a community where your potential customers are hanging out and begin providing valuable content and insights in your business niche. Answer questions, share thoughts, provide your unique take on the conversations that are going on.

Good old prospecting. Pound the pavement, get your first t10, then 100, 1000 etc.

Find out where your potential customers hang out (or reach out to them directly) and talk to them. In the beginning it should be less about “marketing” and more about getting a few early users to make sure you’re building something people want.
