How I published an ebook on Imposter Syndrome

So last night I published my Imposter Syndrome ebook on Gumroad. I wanted to explain how you can write and publish an ebook. Here's how!

  • I read how Anne-Laure Le Cunff published her Make and Shine ebook. Courtland Allen has told me that I'm good at asking for help. If you want to publish an ebook, ask someone that has published one! This applies to everything from making a job board, a blog, you name it! Find someone who has succeeded already and copy their moves.

  • I made a book cover image using Canva. I recently changed my header colour on No CS Degree to purple so I made it the same as that. I then asked people on Twitter for feedback on my designs. People suggested I used developers on the cover to give it more of a human feel.

  • I used a free web programme called Photo Joiner to make a collage. There are various design but one has space for 8 photos. You then drag and drop your images into the slots and boom! You have a collage.

  • I saved my work in Google Docs and allowed people to comment on it. There were a fine minor edits of my conclusion and then it was ready. In Google Docs there is an option to save as a PDF and that was it!

  • I then uploaded it to Gumroad and wrote some sales copy.

Last night I published it and I've mad 7 sales so far. My ebook is a collection of over 30 developers' views on imposter syndrome and how they manage it. Everyone takes a different approach. What is clear though is that loads of people have imposter syndrome! They just don't let it stop them achieving their goals. You can get your copy here.

p.s. I have to say I wouldn't have made an ebook if it wasn't for Pieter Levels writing Make a few years ago.

    Well done!

The pictures really do make them look like imposters, I do have the syndrome, my symptoms are so serious that I frequently make the assumption that everyone and of course myself are imposters in everything we do.

+1 on Google Doc. I also find it the most versatile editor for (e)Books authoring (PDF export for hard copy, ePub export for eBooks, what else to ask!)

what do you mean about their pics?

      Seems like trolling
