Is what you are "making" the same as what you "selling"? by @karthik_2206
HEY has been generating a lot of buzz. So what does it offer? Email? That's correct. But does it also "sell" Email?
No, HEY is selling "User privacy". So every communication from Jason Fried or DHH is about privacy, not about its features. Could someone else have made a better product? I surely think YES! But they have taken the product out of the equation because they have sold people their vision around "user privacy".
There is no point in just selling your features if that's not what your customer wants to hear.- Nike doesn't sell shoes, it sells aspirations.
How I growth hacked my way to +500 waiting list subscribers by @webbiger
1. Find qualified users
The first step for me was to find high-quality users for my lightweight CRM. So I went to Product Hunt and found about 20 similar products that had launched on Product Hunt.
2. Export users in a meaningful way
That's where PhantomBuster comes into play. Thanks to their API, I was able to scrape every single PH user profile who had upvoted a similar product to mine. Most of the users on PH link their profile to their Twitter account, that's the key part of my growth hacking strategy. Altogether, I scraped about 11k profiles.
3. Reach out to users in a constructive and non-spammy way.
3.1 Automatically like their latest tweets
This is a simple and light way of getting someone's attention and there are tons of tools that allow you to do so. My automation simply runs in the background and likes about 300 profiles per day. Since I've started this automation, the average volume of daily visits to my twitter profile has increased by 500% and the average amount of new daily followers, by 50%!
Since my Twitter profile contains a description of my product and a direct link to my sign-up page, this has significantly increased the number of sign-ups I've received.
3.2 Personally reach out to key beta users
After playing around with the CSV file and creating a few pivot tables, I was able to find a few key beta users based on the number of PH followers they had and the number of similar products they had upvoted. I then reached out personally to those.
3.3 Send out promoted tweets to all users
Twitter allows you to create custom audiences based on CSV files that contain twitter usernames. You can then target those with ads.
That's it! You've just built a lasting way to find great beta users! 🏆
What are good places to advertise your product before posting on HN or Product Hunt? by @m150
What not to work on by @rosiesherry
"Not-to-do" lists are often more effective than to-do lists for upgrading performance. Allison Rimm wrote that she maintains three lists of tasks in her Harvard Business Review article
Allison intentionally skips any item that's on list number three.
