How I'm Using My Footer Design For Better SEO ✅

While designing a website, most people tend to undervalue the importance of footer design.

The reality, however, is that your footer is viewed and used by more people than you actually think.

Your footer design is very important, so don't ignore it!

That's why I decided to share how I'm planning to use my latest designed footer for my feedback tool ruttl (http://ruttl.com/).

Since there is no way to upload image into this post, you can visit the below link to analyze my footer design. 👇

Here are some of the biggest benefits that I plan to utilize for increasing the overall SEO -

SEO Benefit 1 - Long Tail Keywords

I'm sure you've heard that optimizing website for long tail keywords can do wonders to the SEO. Inside my footer, I've included several of the long tail keywords that were relevant to ruttl.

Furthermore, if you look at the 3 dots that expand another sub-menu when clicked, is also filled with long tail keywords. That's another great way to utilize space efficiently.

SEO Benefit 2 - Bonus CTA

Footer is like another CTA that a lot of people miss out on. I personally think it's one more chance for my visitors to click something and take an action. Eg. They might choose something like requesting a demo or signing up for the product newsletter. This directly can impact the SEO through higher visitor engagement time.

Also, it's a great way to link important sections of your website for easier access. After all, if you expect someone to scroll up all the way to look for another section, well, the person is simply going to -

Benefit 3 - Space for important info

Yes, the privacy policy, GDPR, legal documents are extremely important. But why waste your website header with these links when you have extra space at the bottom.

I plan to maximize my digital space by linking all these extra yet important documents into my footer design directly. In this way, I can share all the nessccessary documents without my overall digital real estate.

Don't overdo anything in life.

There is one thing like utilizing and maximizing. However, footer can quickly turn ugly. So, don't over crowd your footer with hundreds of links. It will simply confuse the user and in fact reduce your SEO!

Thanks for sharing! Interesting point here. It's important to nail the footer, it gives more credibility. Another benefit is that it is also a good way to link their site map if it's a deep website.

Hmm, great post though, with a really interesting point of view actually. To be honest, it is not that underestimated or undervalue the importance of footer design, I just did not pay that much attention to it actually, and I have never asked myself about it's importance. Even though, I knew about some of it's so called, benefits. I knew about both of the search engine optimization benefits, especially about the long tail keywords. Actually, I want to say that seo is also underestimated sometimes. I mean, before I decided to set up my own website, I was also thinking that seo is something easy that you can do by yourself, well... I understood how wrong I was :D. Thankfully, I found these guys https://www.pixelchefs.com/seo-pricing/ they are one of the most amazing seo company, with probably the best seo prices online, their job actually, made me understand the importance and the complexity of seo.

Great point, a lot of people actually see your footer. I even noticed that I sometimes judge a website for it, like an outdated year in the footer.

Have seen a lot of product websites and honestly, there are many of them that have bad footers. There's just so much information that I get bored to read anything at all after I see it!
