My app Beer Buddy is growing fast and has now currently 500k monthly active users. No revenue at the moment. How much money should an investor put in to get 5%?
Those are great numbers. I'm not sure anyone can comment without hearing the full story. There's a super wide range of factors to calculate that number (especially for a consumer app with no revenue). The investor is going to look at your growth rate, retention rate, demographic (among many other metrics).
Then it's really up to you to tell the right story in terms of monetization strategy and how you'll put their money to work.
Story telling is incredibly important here. The investors belief in your story/plan will drive the $ and the metrics will help solidify your story.
Same product, same investor, two different story tellers = 2 different valuations
Same product, same story, two different investors = 2 different valuations.
