How much should an early stage founder take?

How much should you be taking out of your business early on into business development?

year 1 : minimum wage?
year 2 : 30%?
year 3 : 40%?
year 4 : 45%?

Really keen to hear what other startup founders have taken.

Depends on how much money there is, how that aligns with your current situation and goals.

I didn't pay myself anything for a while, then always underpaid myself tbh and/or looked to do things in a tax-efficient way.

Year 1 I’m basically not taking anything. I hope Year 2 I’ll be able to raise a small round of funding and take a modest salary.
