I wanted to write something about my new twitter account.
I've only been actively using Twitter for the last 6 or so weeks and since then its grown quite a lot (for a small account).
Despite people saying tweet a lot, I only tweet when I have something (I believe to be) profoundly valuable to add or very interesting to me.
You will notice that the majority of my tweets are quote tweets of accounts with 'major' following. I try to add context or value to the conversation by trying to stand out to the author of the tweet. If the tweet has a lot of quote tweets then I'd reply if not, then I'd quote tweet. I would also try to hold a conversation with them if appropriate. After engaging like this a few times with a number of their tweets over a week , I'd then follow them. There is a higher chance that they will then follow you back.
If you are an active member of a community and you've built up rapport then leverage that and cross it over to Twitter, this is how you will grow!
I have used my community to help push me on twitter (not in an obvious , pesky way). Some community members that I'm friendly with have large accounts and have engaged heavily with my content (because it's me AND because its value).
These are the biggest take aways I've had from doing Twitter actively for about a month. I'm excited to see how it'll grow over the next few months. If I continue at this pace, it's gonna be exciting!
