I thought I was pretty smart and experienced in my 30's, but in retrospect not really. And I was definitely an idiot in my 20's. I can't imagine starting a business in my 20's, it would have been like driving blindfolded.
I hope that now I'm in my early 40's I have it all figured out 🤞
I'm also 42. I've been following your Songbox journey for a while and it sounds like you've been starting to get good traction in the last year. Hopefully some of that rubs off on me. Keep up the good work!
(Maybe they're lurking and don't want to admit it 😉. But I think I can speak for all of us when I say: MAD respect for someone venturing out on their own after several decades in the "traditional" work force.)

I was going to reference that link as well!
Good stuff..
👍
I love that article, it makes me appreciate the outliers but not compare myself with them.
Always warms my heart to see this 😁

Ha, fellow 42'er here. Watch out for https://rpgplayground.com, with huge successful breakout when I'm 45 ;)
Let's go! 🚀
Same here
I could end up feeling old once the full results are in!
Spoiler alert :)

30-34 is the time people get married, have kids, buy a home, etc... I think it reflects that.
In the United States it is more like 25-29. Im 28 years old and a lot of my
peers on facebook are married with kids.
And 34+ is the time people are being married, raising kids, paying mortgage and dealing with home maintenance etc. lol 😂
Good poll Nick
Quite revealing.
Must to say that the age intervals are pretty wired and intended...
Didn't expect a 2% for under 18
You expected higher or lower?
Too old. We should have babies programming.
Great idea for a poll, it would be awesome see this sort of demographic data about the community (@csallen). Nice one, Nick!
In general I think some dashboard of insights about all the products listed on IH would be cool.
Could provide some interesting insights like average time to $1k MRR or the success ratio of indie hackers.
Coming soon! ;)
Amazing, look forward to it
Well I'm glad I'm in one of the higher percentiles... I was thinking I was a little young up on here...
No 60+ here???

Age is just a number! Still, it's an interesting poll, thank you Nick
Yes, just a number, indeed!
Very interesting, I'm 21 and working on the next SaaS product for Waffle AI. Follow on Twitter if you'd like to get updates!
371 votes so far. Amazing turnout! I'd say this is a pretty representative sample 🙂
Unless, of course, the over-50s aren't speaking up. I know you're out there!
