How should I start my journey to become an indie hacker and how did you start?

Hi everyone! ✌️

I will be graduating from college next month and I have received an offer from an MNC but I want to build things on the side and travel. I don't know how it will be possible.

I would love to hear your stories to get inspired and would appreciate any resources that you feel will help me.

Thanks and best regards. 😊

My perspective is different. I worked for 5 years in the software industry and saved to finally make the jump into the indie hacking journey.

I'm currently working on a landing page to validate my first project, so fingers crossed this project will make me a full-time indie hacker.

To be honest, I've been a long-time lurker and have seen so many success stories, and for years I've been working on a plan to make the jump. I enjoy the Mobile App and Browser Extension space. So when I would read success stories from those areas, It got me super inspired.

Here are two stories that come to mind that have inspired me:

I enjoy working with technology that fascinates me and using that to help solve problems. So if that's how you approach building software I would suggest reading success stories from niches/frameworks you like to work with.

    Good luck @swaraj

Hey miguel! You should also check out 8 Browser Extensions that make money by indie developers! And maybe check out my project https://extensionpay.com if you want an easy way to add payments for browser extensions.

I had a full-time job and was building https://howuku.com on the side during my free time during the nights, weekends, and public holidays. It lasted for about 2 years before I decided to quit my full-time job to work for myself full-time.

Over the past 2 years, we have pivoted a lot from the initial idea to start a (physical) Feedback-stand startup to a Feedback widget tool for websites to an all-in-one conversion optimization analytics platform.

It really depends on how dedicated are you to wanting to taking your side project live and making it your main source of income that is sustainable for your traveling.

I guess it is a good time to start now since we are in the Covid situation right now haaha!

    Good luck!

Thank you for your insight I will definitely keep this in mind and yes even I feel this a good time to start, so I am trying to ship something asap.

      Best regards! ✌️
