How to build my landing/home page?

Hi,

I'm building a SaaS product and I'm thinking on how to build the landing page?
I have a few options

  1. HTML Template - I'm a programmer but my design skills (and front end skills) are below average. I can buy a template and simply build my own landing page.
This will give me maximum flexibility but given that Frontend is not my strong suit, I'm worried it can take me long time.

  2. Carrd.co - I am considering splitting the SaaS product and the landing page, so I can focus on building the product. Carrd.co seems simple enough, but it feels like very quickly it'll not fit my needs. No a/b testing, no ability to track conversion per specific source (I think), limited SEO etc.

  3. Wordpress - I can use wordpress for the landing page only and host my app under app.domain.com. Wordpress is probably flexible enough to work for me. The main downside here is that I've never used WP, so it might not save me time or produce better results in comparison to HTML.

WDYT?

The 3rd big fan of Carrd here.

I built https://www.zlides.co/ and https://ventureslist.com/ - their SEO and performance analysis works quite well for me. I use GA, Hotjar, Bitly to measure success.

If you need A/B test maybe you can consider Splitbee?

I’m a big fan of Carrd. I know very basic code, but I can’t be bothered to write it, so Carrd was a great choice for me.

Its affordable, easy to use, super responsive, and because it’s only one page, it’s blazing fast.

I’m looking to move Ghost next year, but only because I’m hoping to attach a blog to my landing page. Something that Carrd sadly doesn’t offer, but still a great tool none the less.

Try Webflow. They have cloneable awesome free collection of templates for you to start with.

    Hey @casino!

I'd highly recommend trying Umso (previously Landen). It's a great way to get something off the ground and focus on your value proposition without fiddling much with design. I'm using it for IndieCreators.co and Memberlist.co.

Go for speed. You want a platform that you can quickly change text and images to test validations. In the early days, there is nearly no point for any a/b testing, it is all about getting the messaging right. So if i were you, I would go for Carrd.co or Brizy.cloud, simple and powerful and you want to save time to run more tests.

If you want full control, you can write code or use Webflow

Definitely HTML, you have more flexibility and more customization options.

Don't worry about your design and front end skills, there are so many templates and so many website and people ready to help!

You can check out https://ghost.org as well. They are good.

Isn't Ghost meant for blogs? Here the OP asks for landing page builders, right?

    Hi Robert,

I have another alternative for you. I'm currently working on a tool for indie hackers and founders to create beautiful and efficient landing pages with integrated email login and useful analysis without writing a single line of code. The early access version is expected to be released next week and will be available at https://early.so. If you are interested in participating in the private Early Access period, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]!

I understand that you're launching next week but you could have sent us to a waitlist page or a very simple coming soon page instead of 404.

I believe a waitlist page will be really helpful for you and no cons to that.

      1. 1

This is actually quite funny, because the product is exactly that: A landing page which includes a waiting list registration :D Unfortunately I'm still working on the backend for the waiting list which is not yet ready to be available to the public. I hate to see such great opportunities to spread the word about the product, but not having a waiting list yet :/

        1. 2

Yes, it was a bit funny when I first clicked on it. You can use a 3rd party landing page builder for the moment, nothing wrong with that imo. And as I said anything is better than 404.

I'll look forward to what you're building. What's the meaning behind the name? Is it only for waitlist or pre-launch pages?

          1. 2

Yes you're completely right. I think I'll shift my attention completely on the implementation of the waiting list for now, so interested people like you can sign up if they want :) I'll update you on this.

Thanks a lot for the interest btw!

The name comes from the concept to publish your ideas/projects as "early" as possible, so you can measure how many people are actually interested in it and if it's worth it to continue.

The product is meant to be used both, pre- and post-launch. For the CTA, you can choose between a waitlist form (pre-launch) and a button/link (post-launch) that can redirect users to your dashboard/app etc.

Analytics are also integrated, so you can see how many visitors you got, what your conversion rate is, etc.

Unfortunately, this is just an image of how the landing pages designed with Early can look like, but soon you'll be able to see it live:

Big fan of Carrd, even I'm a developer. You can run Google Analytics on Carrd.

I have some templates here on wickedtemplates.com but this are more blueprint, and you will have to design it....

...I am soon adding ready made templates when I update the new wicked templates.

And the templates are going to be different and focused on design...

But if you are in a rush @BraydenTW could deffinately help, his templates look really clean.

Hey Mike. Thanks for the mention.

@casino I have some premade templates on buildfaster.co and also am open to making custom ones.

Let me know if you are interested!

  12. 1

You could go for the template option but in my own experience with templates more often that not you end up tunning your product in terms of the template while in reality should be otherwise. Yoy could also maybe mvpchecklist if you already have some mockups (here)mvpchecklist

If you need any help with the design i'm free to chat.

There's a loren ipson in the FAQ

Oh you are right , thanks for pointing it out. Here is the production page (sorry i've sent a previous version from vercel)
        (here)[https://solid-4ntl9twk8.vercel.app/] or at https://mvpchecklist.com/
We've been having some issues with the vercel nameserver so here are both domains

          No problem!

I have seen it because I am tired to look for my own typos...super.
