How to design a business with M&A(with synergy) in mind

I would like to know if there are any methodologies to design a business to be eventually merged or acquired with great synergy.

I understand that synergy is important when you want to sell your business, but I'm not sure exactly how to build a business that will have a great synergy with another business.
