How to monetize a 600k unique visitors/m cooking blog?

Hi all,

A friend of mine has a cooking blog with 600k unique visitors / month.
That blog generates approximately $3,5k / month in Google Ads, and they make all the recipes and photos by themselves.

I think they should start selling sponsored posts on their blog as well as in their newsletter, maybe even start playing with affiliate links, as well as sell e-books which would be collections of some of their recipes.

What do you guys think?
Anyone on IH with a similar experience? How much should a blog with that number of unique visitors generate / month?
