I love the advice to divide and conquer dread tasks. But I don't exactly like the idea of re-labeling them to things that sound less intimidating. Because in my opinion, dividing and conquering does the re-labeling job for you.
The task do your taxes soon gets converted into a multitude of different, smaller tasks, like:
check email and snail mail for tax documents
put all tax documents in the same place
search yelp for the nearest tax attorney with good ratings
email the tax attorney, requesting their services
if possible, ask tax attorney if you can simply load your tax documents onto their shoulders and let them handle the entire mess so you don't have to think about it
Love this. "Make it stupidly small" is among one of my favorites

For sure. It's advice that is a) very simple, b) extremely effective, and yet c) not all that commonly followed.
I get the impression it comes more naturally to people with engineering experience?
