How to set marketing goals when introducing your product to a new market segment?

Hey folks! Just wondering, let's say we have an existing product that we want to introduce to a new market segment.

And haven't done any marketing yet for that new segment.

How would you recommend going about creating initial goals for the first few campaigns?

Should we focus on conversion rate, # of visits, something else? Your help would be greatly appreciated!!
