How to set up a paid community in less than an hour!

I did a video on how to setup a paying community and charge members in less than an hour using Carrd (website), Stripe (payments), Airtable (database and to manage members) and Slack.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59O6fBVGusI

You can switch out the stack, but the workflow remains the same.

Would love any feedback!

PS: I had no idea how easy it was to push form data from Carrd to Airtable as well.

    Hi Romy :))
Great video, actually saw it via r/nocode

  2. 2

Yes! Combining these technologies together can be super powerful.

Great video! Easy and quick way to start executing an idea you have, especially if you're uncertain about the market fit. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks @romymisra for the great video! Paid communities are the future of social media and this guide helps people setup quickly :) I run Playgroup (https://playgroup.community/) and am wondering if this setup would work with Playgroup as an alternative to Slack?

    • Carrd
    • Stripe
    • Airtable
    • Playgroup

I'd love to work with you to see if this could happen. Always looking to expand the stack Playgroup can play in ;)

Oh interesting, I didn't know Playgroup existed (great name btw), thanks for linking! I think of you as the "newsletter person" :)

Haha thanks @bhumi! More news soon on this :) Shoot me an email if you're interested in using Playgroup!

Will do! Keeping it in mind for a future use case :)

What community platform are you going with? And why did you choose it?

    2. 2

Yes totally I think the community is interchangeable in this video and the workflow will remain the same.

Thanks :) I'm going to try it out!

That's cool. You have been doing a great job with your videos 👏👏👏

Thanks for posting! I subscribed to your channel.
I highly highly recommend getting a better microphone for youtube. Your audio has low frequency / wind noise. Interestingly once the video gets to "setting up the website", the audio quality becomes better.

I know :( I live in an apartment and there was so much background noise during the day that day. I'll get a better mike! The screencasting part was recorded in the night which is probably why it gets better.

Hi Romy! I reeeeeally liked this video. However there are a few frames at 7:41 where both your test and live keys are visible. This is a huge security problem and you should probably change your keys immediately.

Omg, yes! Will change it. Thanks so much for catching.

Congratulations on publishing 25 videos @romymisra! I remember when you posted your first video. You've come far - this one looks very polished, in terms of content and delivery!

Thanks Bhumi! I'm so embarrassed by my first video :)

That's great! That only means that you've made progress :) I love it when I look back at something I made (or thought) a year ago and think it's bad.

This is one of the best explainer videos I've seen in a long time. Excellent job.

Oh wow, thanks for the kind words!

@romymisra thank you so much for this great resource! It's fantastic to see what can be achieved with carrd. Truly underestimated. But mostly great job explaining how to pull it off end to end. This kinds of vids are exactly what the indiehackers of the world need!

Thank you, so glad you liked it!

Great video. Funny how most of these projects start with WordPress in mind. Wasn't aware how cool Carrd works. Kudos on the video 🙋‍♀️

What technology stack is needed to integrate the paid community into my shopify website https://www.lelinta.com/pages/contact ? I cannot apply for stripe or use shopify's payment system, but I have a paypal account. Is there a solution? I use free MN but no one has joined yet. I know that recruiting is the most difficult

I would say set up the community as a separate entity and take payments separately for now for the first handful of members and then worry about integration.

Integrating it with shopify without stripe or shopify payments may not be easy so I would work on validating first. May require some code to do it.

    This is wonderful, thank you!

Interesting! Paid membership community is really hot right now. This could be useful.

Thanks for sharing and wishing you an awesome success! 🎉🚀

Yea and it's super easy to setup. The actual hard part is fostering the community where it's engaging.
