How we plan to donate $10,000 worth of books to children in need

We just launched the beta of "Joy" - a crowdfunding book donation plugin this month. You can try and install the product at https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/joy/nbkllfplkejknohbpchlcpkgfomclgni or directly check the webpage at http://spreadjoy.online/

The Product: Just by surfing the web, you can build libraries and spread the joy of reading & learning. Each time you open a tab, you will be greeted with an incredible new tab filled with custom widgets, new book suggestions, and a couple of banner ads. We collect ad revenue from the page and use it to donate books for kids.

The Want: There is a long way to go for us and we will love to hear out your feedback and reviews on the same and how can we end up making this a sticky product. Ask us anything regarding our mission and approach.

Interesting idea! I have three questions: 1) Do you plan to spend all raised money on the books (pro bono organization) or are you going to take some percentage to earn from it (commercial organization)? 2) In which way do you select children that are really 'in need'? 3) Why $10,000? What if you raise more/less money?

Hey @KamilBugnoKrk thanks for checking out the product.

      1. Idea is to use the money required to keep the platform live (cloud, tool costs, etc but no salaries) and everything else should go towards book donation.

      2. We are working with a few Child education and Child rights NGOs (with which we have engaged personally in the past) so we know their credibility and can trust that they are working for genuine underprivileged kids

      3. 10,000 is our first milestone. We do want to add a couple of more zeroes in there as we scale.

On a side note, we are working on quite a few changes and will be deploying the new features and updates soon. So do take a look and let us know if you have any idea on how can we further improve the product experience.
