How Your Newsletter can Help Sponsors Achieve More ROI

Over the past few months, I've noticed a few questions regarding how to better help your sponsor achieve a higher ROI on the ads in your newsletter.

Focusing on helping your sponsor achieve a higher ROI will lead to an increase in sponsor price and longer-term partnerships, which will lead to overall long-term revenue growth for your newsletter.

I decided to write a blog on how to help answer that question.

https://newslettercrew.com/how-your-newsletter-can-help-sponsors-achieve-more-roi/

Below are the high-level tips we cover:

  • Showcasing Sponsor Ad Clicks
  • Writing a Better Ad Copy
  • Allow Multiple Links in Ad Copy
  • Give Sponsors the Freedom to Add Images
  • Use Power Words in Ad Copy
  • Compensate Ads with Poor Response
  • Measure Results of an Ad Copy
  • Add a Backlink

Let me know your thoughts and your tips on how to better help sponsors achieve a higher ROI.

I had never thought of sponsorship, great idea. so...

what would be the ballpark minimum number of subscribers to a free newsletter before anyone will pay to sponsor it?

how many sponsors is advisable per newsletter?

how much can you charge a sponsor?

@steveprocter really great questions! We actually have an article for next week on how to price newsletter sponsors. Subscribe to the newsletter https://newslettercrew.com/ and well send it when it's ready :)

Honestly, you can get sponsors almost at any level. @paulmet got his first sponsor at like 250 subs.

cool, signed up and look forward to it.

I guess the question is: paid-for newsletter Vs free sponsored newsletter. which gets most $$, and speed from 0 to $$.

        1. 3

Paid newsletters gets faster $$. For example, @Kevcon80 grew SoftwareIdeas.io, a paid newsletter to $10k MRR in 8 months. Now that's really hard to do with a sponsorship newsletter.

I'd capitalize on both. Have a paid newsletter and a free newsletter with sponsors. Then it's a win-win.

            great idea!!

            and nice newsletter @Kevcon80

Well said also the best part of newsletters are that most of them have concentrated audience. Like NC has audience focused towards newsletter owners which results to better conversion.

Newsletters do have a big future ahead.

    1. 1

Concentrated audiences should help ROI in general but it's all relative. A more niche audience usually means higher sponsor prices.

      1. 1

The best thing about the concentrated traffic in newsletters is that the audience will remain the same.

Like visitors on TechCrunch will be varied (though in the same niche) but subscribers of NewsletterCrew will remain same and that's the major positive point.
