How's Mastodon doing? Anyone there?

I almost forgot about the platform, but it's definitely far from being dead. For example, Plausible Analytics has a decent following there (450 followers, almost 20% of their Twitter account), though it may be because it's free and open-source while being on a FOSS Mastodon server.

Do you know any maker communities on Mastodon? What are the most popular servers for indie hackers? Share your accounts there in the comments.

I've been thinking of joining as well to interact with more devs and share my indiehacking and UX content but didn't give it a try yet cause it's not clear to me if people are interested into this kind of content there :)

What's your main motivation behind thinking of joining mastodon?

Mostly curiosity if it can be a different and better experience than Twitter (which I tolerate but don't like). I loved the idea of a self-hosted federated microblog when it was released, but back then I barely managed to use Twitter regularly, and Mastodon servers themselves were kinda empty or thematic.

Mastodon is great, I'm a fan. It feels like Twitter felt a while ago when it was just starting out and less mainstream.

I have a personal account and decided to start a Plausible Analytics account as well as people asked about it. It's working well for us. It's not as big as Twitter and people are more skeptical of "brands" (at least in the FOSS community there) but is certainly an important channel for us.

But as you say we've found a perfect community full of open source fans so that helps with the growth. I'm not aware of any indie hackers community but perhaps they may be some related to the topic you're working on.

Oh wow, you've got almost 1,000 followers on Mastodon! Yeah, I'm definitely considering starting a personal account there and not app/company ones.

Too bad there're no known maker circles, I'm afraid there may be none but I'm going to check it later.

you can always start one yourself :)
