Landing Page Feedback February 20, 2020

How's my landing page? Launching on Product Hunt soon, hoping for feedback.

Yusuf Qabil @qabil

Here's the page: https://oneprofile.info

Thank you very much in advance!

  1. 1

    Hey Yusuf,
    Firstly Congratulations!

Looking through your IH, you seem to have done "Sekaijyuu" to "Founder Hill" and then it becomes "One Profile" and then there is "Giftworks".

All great ways to pivot... but I'm left a little confused.

Which is it "Giftworks" or "One Profile"?

I feel compelled to leave some constructive feedback :)
Perhaps realign your branding to one thing... and stick with it or be consistent, what do you think?

    1. 1

      Hey Mr Upgradable, thanks!

Thanks again for reaching out on both Twitter and Indie Hackers :)

It's a long journey of discovery from Sekaijyuu to Founder Hill and finally, One Profile. Giftworks.io is simply a parent company hosting all my projects like how Alphabet is to Google and other Google products. The reason for having a parent company is that I wouldn't want to create separate entities for each of my projects and handle multiple paper works.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it and I agree! Now that I have built something that some people actually want, I will do my best to remain consistent from now on. I hope you gave One Profile a try :)

      1. 1

Agree partly... that's why it's so confusing (just to be specific in feedback).

You don't "Alphabet" something, you "Google" it.

Branding is consistent and everyone is not confused with "Google", however if you are an investor "Alphabet" may be very important to you. Guess the public cares more about "Google" than "Alphabet".

You should push "One Profile" (leave Giftworks as your secret for how you facilitate and manage "One Profile")

        1. 1

Hey! Sorry for the slow reply, @mrupgradable. It was already past midnight when I got your last message, and I fell asleep! Haha.

Anyway, hmm, you're right. I guess you make perfect sense. I'll follow your advice and push for One Profile.

          Thanks so much for this!

  2. 1

    Hi @qabil,

Congrats and amazing you are #1 Product of the Day on product hunt. Excellent!!

    Voted for you.

All the best. Make it big!!

    1. 1

      Thanks for the support, @falcon007!!! You're a star ⭐️

  3. 1

    Hi @qabil,

Nice landing page, explains things clearly.

I could not browse through other profiles.

I am sure you would have looked at about.me, but I prefer yours.

    All the best.

    1. 1

Hi, @falcon007! Thank you for the comment and thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it :)

  4. 1

Oh wow! Such a great idea! Happy to follow your progress how it all goes with your launch and the future. Slick UI and UX. Only thing that I thought about is the name of your product. I would really see a more unique name for this concept! Oneprofile describes the product perfectly, but is a little generic! Best of luck and wishes from Finland!

    1. 2

Thanks, @codemysoul! Appreciate the kind words :) Yeap, the name is always the tricky bit but I think I'll just stick to it for now Looking for an available domain name is just too much of a nuisance, haha. As a present and a thank you, if you have already created an account on One Profile, you can share with me your One Profile link and I'll upgrade your account for free :)

Thanks so much again from Malaysia!

  5. 1

I think it's looking great! I remember seeing your page some time ago, looks like things have improved a lot. Few things I would suggest.

    1. Bit too much info. I'd probably half the number of "essential features" and remove everything below "See it in action".

    2. Remove the pricing link if its free.

Wondering how you are going to monetize?

    Good luck!

    1. 1

Thanks, @dshannon! And sorry for the slow reply! Got pretty overwhelmed with all the responses and feedback from fellow Indie Hackers, took me some time to digest and sort through :)

I agree with your points and have just pushed an update to the app. I've removed everything below 'See it in action' and made the page simpler. Thanks for this suggestion, it looks far cleaner now :D Anywa, One Profile is free but it also has a Pro plan hence the pricing link. Pro features include custom domain and custom color.

As a present and a thank you, if you have already created an account on One Profile, you can share with me your One Profile link and I'll upgrade your account for free :)

Thanks so much again for taking the time to review my product — appreciate the effort!

  6. 1

Looks great! Ping me when you launch on PH and you have my vote :)

    1. 1

@tonixx! I've launched One Profile on Product Hunt today 🤩Appreciate your support, thanks so much in advance! https://www.producthunt.com/posts/one-profile

    2. 1

Thanks, @tonixx, will do! As an early present, if you have already created an account on One Profile, you can share with me your One Profile link and I'll upgrade your account for free :) Hope you enjoy using it!

  7. 1

Hi. I did not even read other posts because I do not want it to influence my response.

    • Man! There is a lot of info here. I bet most people will not read it. Maybe shorten to the most critical ones and have a separate features page. Or better yet, 'before and after page' showing the difference of using your service over a simple Linkedin, wordpress, etc.
    • Good design.
    • Why do I need my own profile page? For job seeking, adding to biz card, etc? Why??
    • Like the social proof on the top "JOIN OVER 241 PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY CREATED A ONE PROFILE"
    • Subjective - I do not like mousing over the footer to see what it does.
    • Think it will be good on PH because free gets signups.

Now I will read what others said!

Good luck on the PH release!! :)

    1. 2

Hi, @mdo! Thanks for taking some time to go through my app! Sorry for the slow reply too, was pretty overwhelmed by everyone's kind suggestive responses :)

Anyway, I agree with your points and have made some changes to the website, especially the home page; less info and explanation on why you need a profile page.

As a present and a thank you, if you have already created an account on One Profile, you can share with me your One Profile link and I'll upgrade your account for free :)

      Thanks so much again!

  8. 1

some suggestion: Highlighting with red is not a convention, if you use any editor wrong spellings will be highlighted with red and if you use Grammarly (widely used ) the way Grammarly highlights for wrongs/correct is same as yours, It would be better if you use some other scheme or way to highlight

Images are not responsive, if you open in mobile you cannot understand the image or the text in it, same for videos, images, and videos are the main magnet for new user onboarding

If I can help you in any other way please let me know

    1. 1

Thanks for the feedback, @prnysarkar :) I've made some changes based on your feedback, I think it looks better now, thank you!

As a present and a thank you, if you have already created an account on One Profile, you can share with me your One Profile link and I'll upgrade your account for free :)

      Thanks so much again!

      1. 1

Thanks Qabil, this is my account https://www.oneprofile.info/iam/pranoysarkar

Some more feedback: looks like you are using some frontend framework, for that everything is generated in the client-side, the main problem here is search bots /crawlers do not execute javascript, it just makes a get request and stores whatever it gets (google does executes JS but the frequency is low) user might complain about this in long term.
But there are some other social bots like whatsapp bot, twitter bot, etc. this bots also acts as the same way, when people share their profile on those platforms as of now it only shows your main home page's meta, it should be dynamically generated user's profiles data, (take any profile URL and paste it on WhatsApp before sending wait for sometimes it will show there)

Solution: It is a little bit big task, search for open graph https://ogp.me/, rendertron, and the simple hack will be, in server-side based on the user agent (bots will have different user agent) generate the content on the server put it in simple html and send it.

        1. 1

Great, I've already upgraded your account, hope you like it!

Thanks for the feedback, @prnysarkar! You can actually customize your open graph attributes. On your edit profile page, you can edit your meta tags and favicon and have those customized. Once customized, when you share your profile page on Twitter, FB, Whatsapp, wherever, your custom tags will be generated. If you leave it be without editing it, it'll generated One Profile's image banner but with your page's description.

Hope it clarifies. If I made a mistake, please do let me know about it. I'm always learning.

          1. 1

Ok, that's great, sorry I missed that part

            1. 1

Don't be sorry! Thanks so much for sharing, I really do appreciate it.

  9. 1

Hi Yusuf, very nice product and page, here are some thoughts:

    1. The background is a little dull. It's ok once you scroll down because there are the boxes that pop-out, but on the hero page I'd either put an image of the product or change the background, or set an image bg.
    2. I like the clean look, but I think the CTA could be more prominent. Maybe make it green with white text
    3. Inside the product itself, the bright shadows in the dark mode look a little too bright. Maybe they should be more subtle
    4. I don't think you need to "prove" that you have custom domain option in the demo section. The 2 buttons are just confusing. I'd make just one button. For your own profile, I'd actually claim that you should be on the free domain, because onprofile is your own domain already
    5. If you have a custom domain connected, it'd be nice if the free url would redirect to your connected domain.
    6. I highly suggest to you to separate your own domain from your customers domain. E.g. make your customers' sites on oneprofile.me or something like that. Or move your own site if you don't want to move your existing customers. From my experience once the product grows you get into problems like seo ranking, email blacklisting, etc, and then you have to separate domains which becomes a very hard problem.
    7. I think you should have a logo
    8. In the product itself, the content menu looks like a search box. Try make it look more like a drop down or link with arrow
    9. In your blog and FAQ on the pricing page you give WAAAY too much focus on why is this free? Will you sell my data? Is it not reliable? Non of these questions even popped into my mind until you raised them. People are used to get free services with premium paid option. You don't have to justify it. I would get rid of ALL of this negative content. You can however, make the privacy an FAQ on its own. Like "we respect your privacy" and a short explanation on that you're not going to sell my data. In other words, talk about things positively.
    10. I'd make the 2 plans side by side. It took my some time to even see that you have a unicorn plan
    11. The FAQ text is very long and unformatted. Especially the first one.

    Good luck with your lunch!

    1. 1

Few more things after playing with the product:

      1. The "get a unicorn" is not distinct enough.
It should be clear that this is an upgrade, and what are the benefits of an upgrade. Right now you just send me to pay for something I don't know
      2. I love the humor in the onboarding. I think you should add skip option for those that just want to get there
      1. 1

Hi, @Danbars! Sorry for the slow reply! And thank you so much for the reply. The responses I got from fellow Indie Hackers were so overwhelming, it took me some time to digest and sort through!

Anyway, I've read through yours and made some changes based on your feedback, thank you so much for pointing those out! Things like on the FAQ being more positive, pricing layout, and the home page. I'll have to tinker a little bit more on the product itself but I'll get there eventually!

Thanks so much again for the feedback! As a present and a thank you, if you have already created an account on One Profile, you can share with me your One Profile link and I'll upgrade your account for free :)

Thanks again, @Danbars! I hope you enjoy and will benefit from using One Profile and if you like using it, I'd really appreciate it if you share it with your friends and followers :)

        1. 1

Hi thanks for the generous gift.
          My oneprofile id is danbars.
I will certainly suggest it to relevant people.

          1. 1

I should be thanking you for the generous feedback! Your points helped me a lot!

I've upgraded your account, enjoy! And thank you so much again.

  10. 1

    Hi Yusuf,

The design looks clean, friendly and simple. I like the use of color and subtle animations. One thing to consider: as a potential customer, I don't know what problems/pain points OneProfile is solving for "me". Why should I have a one profile page? How does this improve my online presence. What can I gain from having one page?

I like the concept, displaying a holistic view of a person's online presence, but I'm not confident in converting just by seeing a list of features - some ideas to explore.

I hope this is valuable feedback. Best of wishes with the launch.

    Cheers!

    1. 1

Hi, @inchaim! Sorry for the slow reply! I got pretty overwhelmed by all the amazing responses from fellow Indie Hackers on my website and had to really look at each comment and see how I can improve my website.

Your feedback is definitely on point, and I agree. I have pushed an update to reflect on why a personal page is important and how One Profile helps to solve this problem. I'm not sure how effective my copy is but I think it's better now, thanks! If you'd like to have a look at it, here's the link https://oneprofile.info

As a present and a thank you, if you have already created an account on One Profile, you can share with me your One Profile link and I'll upgrade your account for free :)

      Thanks so much again!

  11. 1

Nice work @qabil. It's super clean and easy to understand. The only design elements that seem unconventional are the bright colored box shadows on the pricing and signup/login cards.
Best of luck with your launch!

    1. 1

Thanks, @keeg, glad to hear that! Noted on the box shadows, I'll see what I can do with it. As a present, if you already have an account, I'll upgrade your account to the Unicorn plan for free. Just share with me your One Profile link e.g. yourname.oneprofile.info and I'll do some quick magic on it.

Thanks again for feedback and the well wishes, really needed that support, feeling a little bit nervous about it!

  12. 1

Look nice! It's ready but there are some small things that you could improve:

    • Personally, when I enter the page, it looks good. But I can't help but notice that the background looks a little bland. There is no color or "texture " or any graphic/image in the hero section. I think that coloring the hero text could greatly improve the section :P (Could be wrong) Here are some examples:
      https://imgur.com/a/iqnyIrU

    • I also noticed that in your What sets us apart section the Page Analytics row has no media next to it (an empty white box)

Except for that, I feel like the last section with all the features takes a little too much vertical space and could be improved by decreasing the size of the illustrations. Also, the dividers between them are slightly too thick and dark.

I'm not a designer so please so this could be complete BS :P 😁

I've been following your updates for some time now and your product really seems great, good luck with your launch!

    1. 1

Thanks, @nadavram! Appreciate the feedback and samples!

I think the media just hasn't loaded properly, thanks for noticing!

And thank you for following my updates 😁As a present, if you already have an account, I'll upgrade your account to the Unicorn plan for free. Just share with me your One Profile link e.g. yourname.oneprofile.info and I'll do some quick magic on it.

      Thanks again, Nadavram :)

    Looks very clean! Great work!

Landing page is awesome, great job.

    I signed up :)

    1. 1

Thanks, @makr! Glad you liked it :)

  15. 1

    Hey Yusuf :)
I really like your idea and your landing page!

    Two little things:

    • On your pricing page: It took me some seconds to find where the unicorn plan was. It would be easier to find it if both plans where placed next to each other or if you would center the box. The way it looks now suggests that the unicorn plan is missing somehow.

    • The login page shows the button to your login page in the upper right corner.

[The following is just a personal preference design-wise]

    • On your pricing page the background image in combination with the pink glow around the box is a little bit too much. Maybe you could use a normal shadow for the "plan" box especially because it would be more consistent with the rest of your page. Another way to highlight it would be setting a background color for the box. This also applies to the "login" box on your login page.

I hope I could give you helpful feedback :)

    1. 1

      Hey, Marion :)

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback, I really appreciate it!

Noted on all points, I'll push a quick update in a bit. (I didn't realize the login button on the top right! Thanks for pointing this out! )

As a present, if you already created an account, I'll upgrade your account to the Unicorn plan for free. Just share with me your One Profile link e.g. yourname.oneprofile.info and I'll work on the magic :)

      Thanks again, Marion :)

      1. 1

Hey Yusuf. What a nice surprise :) My link is mrnmnzl.oneprofile.info.

Btw: I made a mistake entering my e-mail. Of course my e-mail ends with .com and not .con but it seems that I can't change it within the settings (I tried) and therefore I cannot confirm my e-mail. Can you help me with that?

For the future: maybe you could add a e-mail confirmation field to your sign-up page :)

        1. 2

Hey, Marion! I sent you an email yesterday, not sure if you received it? Let me know if you still have trouble confirming your email. Thanks again for the feedback and I hope you'll benefit from using One Profile :)

          1. 1

Everything worked out fine. Thanks! 😊

            1. 1

              Glad to hear that! 😁

  16. 1

Nice! Looks really clean and simple.

Onboarding, on the other hand, feels a little cumbersome. There are at least 5 pages between signup and dashboard. I understand that you need to populate the profile but I would suggest breaking that up into smaller steps for later.

    1. 1

Thanks, @pythagoran! Noted, I'll see what I can do to shorten the onboarding steps. Appreciate the feedback. And as a present, I'll upgrade your account to the Unicorn plan for free. Share with me your One Profile link e.g. yourname.oneprofile.info and I'll do some quick magic on it.

Thank you very much too, @udprakash :) I just pushed an update reflecting many of your points made in the video, so, thank you so much again for pointing them out! If you could share https://oneprofile.info with your friends or followers, that's the best help anyone could give :) Let me know if I can help you out with anything too!
