I got my first 150 users on my chrome extension.

Hi Everybody.

This is my first piece of content on IndieHacker. Somewhat nervous on that also.
Few months i decided to build some passive income.
I am a software developer completely from technical background. I do Projects for my clients.
I don't know much about marketing and product launch etc. But after seeing a lot of examples on indiehacker, I believed that product launch can be done .Even i can start with something. So I Started researching on web for sites getting a lot of organic traffic. So i use to check domain traffic with a free chrome extension called SIMILARWEB. Side by side i also check the age of these domains.

And i see that few domain are just few months only and getting 100K + traffic. Then i make habit of checking traffic and age of every domain. But Domain age checking was a difficult task so i build a tool to check domain and later converted it to a chrome Extension to help all other guys.
My intention was to solve problem.

I request you to please provide feedback for the same.Basis on your feedback i will make changes.

Thanks

Hi @anujjindal, what is your extension called? I am looking to grow traffic to my website as well, and this would be a great tool for that! Do you have any suggestions for getting organic traffic from research?

    Hey! Thanks for sharing,

Got a couple of questions myself. For Scraper.AI we launched An extension ourself but we're experiencing some troubles, perhaps you know how to solve those?

    • The image in the search when you search scraper.ai is just a small favicon even though i set all images correctly in the dashboard
    • Getting a low amount of reviews. Well Google updated and the reviews were not working for quite a while perhaps that was the reason?
    • Organic search is rather low, how did you get around this?

Interesting idea :) How long it was posted on the webstore before it started to get some organic users?

It was not getting organic search initially. But now it start getting organic search.

    Brilliant idea !!

It does exactly what it says it does, prime example of solving a single problem and solving it well.

In terms of feedback, I would consider:

    • Stlying the extension portion a littble bit. It looks a little unpolished. Nothing crazy, just the making the age bigger and bolder, stiling the a tags, and making the "powered by" a little more subtle.

    • Having a name for the extension.

    • Making the images on the chrome extension store focus more on the extension. I was very distracted by the stack overflow home page, instead of focusing on your extension.

    • I like the description of the extension on the store, but it feels a bit cluttered. I would suggest having empty lines between the paragraphs to give the text and the reader more air to breathe!

    Well done!

Thanks for fonts and stylish suggestions . They all are great.
I will add them up in new update.

And the extension was developed keeping in mind only for domain age. There are lot of extension make the task so complex. But the above extension is only one of its kind

Looks great and a really neat idea! Some of the feedback I can provide is on the web store page itself. I go into more detail about growth, etc in the ebook in ChromeExtensionKit, but two things that standout are the extension title and the screenshots.

For the title, it makes use of keywords, but doesn't really have a "name". It's beneficial to have a name as it makes it easy for people to reference your extension and it gives it a bit of an identity. For example, you could do something like "Age Checker | Domain & Site Age Checker" or something along those lines.

For the screenshots, I actually had to zoom in my browser to see the extension portion since it's small in the top right corner. I would recommend keeping the same screenshots, but zooming into the popup portion where your extension is. It'll make it a lot easier for potential users to see what your extension does.

    Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks @rfizzy for your valuable suggestions.Actually reason for keeping full screenshot is to show url and its age in the domain.

Can you suggest any idea for that.

For name i will surely think for one.

No problem! One thing you may be able to do if you want the URL bar is to just resize your browser before taking the screenshot. That'll shorten the URL bar and bring it closer to where the extension popup is. Another option is to just use some editing software to show a magnification of your original screenshot (i.e. show the original screenshot + a zoomed in portion of the top right where your extension popup is).
