Hi all,
I'm new to IH, and I have an idea that I want to build a POC for. The only issue is, I have little coding or dev experience.
So heres the idea for the front end (for the user):
- A map app (think of the Uber UI)
- with functionality to select predefined walking or driving routes
- once a predefined route is selected. A "journey" would start like in any navigation app, it would then playback prerecorded audio (NOT navigation instructions i.e. "Turn left", "In 2 miles take the next exit". It would instead playback other audio, which I would like to be able to record myself in the backend of the app.
Backend (for me to manage):
- allow me to select (via a form built for app management) and record routes i.e. longitude and latitude locations. I would then like to also select trigger points and attach audiofiles/mp4s for where the audio playback should activate when a user is approaching it with his or her device.
This is a high level overview of what I'm looking for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Sounds a lot like Detour (acq by Bose)
Thanks Andrew, I'll look into it.
This seems really hard to build without coding knowledge. I can't say for sure, but I doubt there are no-code platforms out there that allow for map logic like that. Are you interested in learning to code or finding a developer to work with?
Hi Gabe, thanks for the prompt response!
I'd be interested in both learning and finding a developer.
I think it would involve connecting a maps API into an App and then overlaying the features on top. But I could be wrong. Hence why I would be keen to learn how to build a POC.
My advice would be to see if you can find any open source map apps that do something similar, as well as look into APIs (like https://www.mapbox.com) that may handle some of the complexity for you.
