Hey Daniel @dvassallo, i noticed you also didn’t bother with a dedicated website for your AWS guide and just used a gumroad product page. I would be keen to know why you also chose not to do a website? Do you think it helped or hindered?
Yes I like to ruthlessly avoid anything unnecessary. The Gumroad product page works great. I sold $346,384 worth of products from it in the last 15 months.
Damn that is good and a clear reason not to build a webpage! ;-)
My product is a web resource directory for startups and so I think a model likes yours sounds ideal, hope you’re ok with me borrowing it...if I have a fraction of the success you had then drinks are on me ;-)
my personal Carrd page linking to various validating stuff about me
the Carrd page has link to the ‘buy my resource’ gumroad product page which opens up as a modal
the gumroad product page has all the sales blurb, plus a link to my resource website to ‘view a free sample resource list’
i had planned that my website would also contain a lovely sales page; but I do see now that it is probably duplicating what is on gumroad so not worth doing
Hey Xavier, nice one! I see you haven’t built a website for this one (like spreadtheworld), but have just gone straight to a gumroad product page. What is the thinking behind this?
I created a carrd landing page for my 1 product (spreadtheworld.net). Not sure it convert better than the Gumroad default page.
So I tried without :)
Everything works well so far!
Ah interesting. So i guess maybe there is no difference.
Are there tips for how to write mails to PR editors or some examples / templates
There are tips and external resources on How to get PR &Â how to use HARO. But no templates for now!
Getting PR isn't really like a cold emailing campaign where you can send hundreds of emails in a few days. If you want to maximize your chance to get PR you should do the exact opposite:
That's mainly why I added templates to that section. Do you feel like you need it?
Thank you for the detailed answer! We are currently working on our press work for the launch of Paperless.io so it would have been useful to see two examples of such a mail. I understand that it is not suitable for the masses.
You're product machine, Xavier :D
Ahah, I'm trying to ship 6 in 6 months! It's super fun, I learn so much stuff along the way!
