I just made my first $ on the Internet!

I couldn't be happier right now.

I've been working on namy.ai for a while, and yesterday I finally finished making & training an AI model that I was happy with, and deployed it. Then I made a small announcement on Twitter (~300 followers) about it.

Some people visited and entered prompts, loitered around, but I didn't see anyone actually buy a domain. "Oh well" I said, I still needed to improve my SEO anyways (barely have done anything on that front😅)

BUT TODAY I log into my dashboard, and I see:
balance: €0.99 EUR

😲

It finally happened!!! My FIRST internet money that I earned on my own!!!!

I know it's not a lot and that I have a long way to go (and making twitter posts is not sustainable. I need to improve SEO.), but damn does it feel good!

It's definitely validating that someone, somewhere paid money for something you built. Great feeling!

Anyways I just wanted to share this little victory with the community here. Wish you all the best!

Congratulations, Hugo! They say you never forget your first dollar (or 99 cents 😉).
That's a really cool tool you have there, now spread the word 📣
    Cheers!

    1. 4

Hahaha thanks Daniel! That's exactly what I'm shifting my focus to now, spreading the word!

I hate marketing, but oh well. It's necessary.

      Also, it's 0.99€. So 1.16$ 😉

      💵 💵 💵 ⛵ 🏝

Wow, congrats! I remember my first. It was about $135 and I legit cried, not even joking.

To your coffers increasing and growing larger 🍻

    1. 1

      Wooooooh 135!! That's awesome

To the coffers of all indiehackers increasing 🍻🍻🍻🍻

      1. 2

I can certainly drink to that. Cheers buddy.

  3. 3

Congrats Hugo, that's the important milestone!

    1. 1

Thanks Klim! It feels really great. I know it's barely anything (especially compared with some of the behemoths that pull in 10 or 20k MRR here), but it is really encouraging.

  4. 2

Congrats! Will be looking for your 10k post!

  5. 2

Congratulations! Here is to much more success.

    1. 1

      Thanks Jeff! Let's hope :D

  6. 2

Congratulations, Hugo. I love the playful theme you implemented.
This is really a good tool and good business modal.
    Wishing lots of success.

    1. 1

Thanks Bhavik! That's what I hope too. As long as people find it useful I'm happy.

  7. 2

Congrats on your first money on the net! From here on, it can only get better!

  8. 2

Man, I can feel your happiness in this post.

People say that the first milestones are usually the more fulfilling - so go ahead and enjoy this moment! so happy for you!

    1. 1

Haha I'm absolutely happy! It's been super fun to build this, and getting my first $ has been an amazing feeling.

But even more than that, it's just so enjoyable to see people use and get value from something you've built. There's been like ~2000 users in the last 24 hours (due to this post and another reddit post i made), and that's just crazy.

Honestly I don't even mind if namy doesn't blow up of become the next big thing; as long as it can pay for server costs and help ppl I'm calling it a success.

      1. 2

So nice to see such a humble approach Hugo. It makes me believe that you will be successful simply because you are too focused on the solution - so the result will ultimately come as a consequence.

        Great job!

  9. 2

    Congratulations Hugo 🎈🎈🎈🎈

  10. 2

Congrats, Hugo! The first customer is the most important one.
Backtrack their journey, see how they ended up buying, and do more of what you did that led to your first $$

    All the best!

    1. 2

      Thanks Bilals!

Yes, I definitely need to implement more analytics. I don't even know what domain they bought!!

Would be great if I could have a chat with them.

  11. 2

    Congratulations Hugo!!!

  12. 2

That feeling is just so intoxicating and addictive. I'm not that far ahead of you, but I just want to say it keeps getting better!

    1. 1

haha I can imagine! passive income must be so great. You build something, and then over the months and years it starts paying off and trickling in money.

Plus, you're helping people & providing value!

  13. 2

    Congratulations Hugo 🎊

  14. 2

Nice! That's my first goal on my indie hacker journey.

Really cool idea though. I'll come back to purchase my domain when I have a crisp way to explain my product 😁

    1. 1

      Hehehehe a customer caught >:)

Wish you the best of luck! I think it's a really dumb (1$ is nothing), but quite significant milestone. Hope you reach it soon!

  15. 2

There's honestly no better feeling in the world than generating your first dollar in revenue.

Such a huge milestone on any maker journey. Well done 🥳

    1. 1

generating your first million in revenue maybe 👀

      ahahaha but thanks!!!!

  16. 2

Perfect Man, I wish you the best. The idea is good, I just tried it. I am wondering, how did you get your 300 twitter followers? Did you pay adds? or did you use another method?

And congrats for the money, you deserve a chocolate with churros.

    1. 1

Ahahahahahahahah that's the first good suggestion I've seen on how to spend my new fortune. Did you check out where I live? Chocolate with churros is one of the best things :P

As for twitter followers, I got the first ~100 from participating in "lets hack Twitter" IH posts, and the rest mostly organic from interacting with the people on Twitter

  17. 2

Congrats! Yes, that first sale is a great moment. I hope that the next sale may come soon, and the next, and the next...

    1. 1

Hahahhahah I hope that too :)

      Thanks!

  18. 2

    Nice ! Congrats bro

  19. 2

man, congrats! Very happy for you!

  20. 2

Woo hoo! Man, I will never forget the first time I got paid 💵 from internet,
    just felt so surreal.
Congrats and here's to more $$$ in future

    1. 1

      Thanks man!!!!!!

Me neither. I don't know how to "eternalize" that first $. It's not physical, so I can't put it on the wall.

Hmmm.... maybe I could mint it as an NFT?

      1. 2

Ha ha! That sounds like a great project, NFTs for Indie hackers to capture their first dollar earned from a project!
Let me know if you want to build this together 😉

        1. 1

Hah would be cool. I'm sure people would be super interested in the NFT's of first $ from people like @levelsio or @yongfook

  21. 2

Awesome! You've found a process from start to finish that makes you money. Now you can focus on optimizing that process!

    1. 1

Right on! Just need to scale it up 10,000x now!

  22. 2

Let's goooo Hugo! Thanks for taking the time to write me today, on my thread. Happy to return the favour with an upvote here 🧡🧡🧡🧡

    1. 1

No favor to be returned; your Twitter is always fun and high value. Love following the journey (and such an unusual service too!)

      But thanks!! <3

  23. 2

    Hey man! Good job.

Reading this made me feel so excited for you! I can imagine how that feels and I can't wait to feel it myself in the near future :).

Just keep it up and thanks for inspiring me.

    Cheers!

    1. 1

      It's seriously awesome, I'm riding a bit of a high :P

Plus, writing this post on IH and also on Reddit has driven like A TON of traffic, which is mega exciting to see. And, super randomly, two people clicked on the buymeacoffee sticker and donate (yes, DONATED!) $10. Crazy!

I wish you the best of luck, I'm sure it'll come eventually <3

      1. 1

Crazy that people have donated! The IH community is amazing :O

        1. 1

I think it will be a much more popular concept with Web3.0

        2. 1

Blew my mind too. Never would've expected it ^^

  24. 2

    YOU MADE IT.

    😆 Just kidding.

But you gotta start somewhere. Congrats on the success! Hopefully this leads to numbers with more 0's and preferably more ,'s as well 👍

    1. 2

Yeah sorry, I'm off to the bahamas. I'm officially quitting Indiehackers.

      Bye suckers 🤘

      🏖️😎🍹🏝️🌊🌊⛵

  25. 2

Congratulations! I also just made my first sale of $4.99 and won't forget it ever :D

    1. 1

oh dope! First sale brothers 🤝

      How did you get yours?

    1. 1

Thanks!! The community is so supportive here <3

  26. 2

    Wow awesome, Hugo. Congrats! 👏

    1. 1

Thanks Dennis! It's my little Apollo moment. Small step for Indiehacker-kind, big step for Hugo.
